10 New AR Features in iOS 12 for iPhone & iPad «Next Reality

Apple's iOS 12 has finally landed. The big update was released on Monday, September 17th, for everyone and hides in some pretty amazing augmented reality upgrades for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches. We've been playing with them since the beta release of iOS 12 in June, and here are the things we've learned you want to be notified about.

If you want to know what else is new in iOS 12 General, check out my iOS 12 features in Gadget Hacks. For now, here's all AR-related, which Apple has included in iOS 12. There are some new features aimed at pleasing AR fanatics and familiarizing the new AR with the program. However, all new AR features are based on ARKit 2.0, the latest version of Apple's Augmented Reality Framework for iOS.

. 1
A Real World Mess App is included

There have been many AR measurement apps since ARKit became a thing, but Apple wants you to use all of them in favor of its new Measure app. Like other AR measurement apps, you can determine the dimensions of a 3D object with your camera. Apple's version is actually pretty simple, but it's a start. It's not 100% accurate, which is the same for every app of its kind, but it's a great way to get non-AR users to appreciate Augmented Reality.

. 2 Players can now play with other players

There is a new feature called where you can exchange experiences that are perfect for multiplayer games. Apple has demonstrated this feature with the SwiftShot multiplayer game for developers, and Directional Games has highlighted Galaga AR multiplayer use later this year (you can see it in Apple's Gather Round video event …) to 1: 03:00)

Games are huge on the App Store, so it only makes sense that Apple is the multiplayer would quickly displace support for AR titles. Now all we have to do is wait for the developers to put that into the games we already know and love. There are not many people to play with right now, but more is expected by the end of the year.

. 3 3D Objects Can Be Detected

Even though it seems strange that ARKit 2.0 did not have that, it finally arrived in iOS 12. Which augmented reality app you use will be able to tell what an item in your viewfinder is. If it is a couch or a piano, it knows and knows how it is based on the location of the device.

These 3D objects can also be used by apps to trigger actions. If you're in a museum app, if you point your camera at Leonardi da Vince's picture, you may be able to bring up a carousel of him with all the paintings and inventions you can see in AR view one by one. In another example, a movie app may display trailers for movies when the camera detects a DVD, Blu-ray, poster, or book on the screen.

4. There's Enhanced Face Detection

If you're using AR apps like Snapchat, News, and FaceTime, any Augmented Reality filters you can use will actually work better now, so it always does harder to hide your face under something else. With the new look tracking in iOS 12, these apps know where to look, and you can even wink or stretch your tongue and they'll act accordingly.

For example, with your best rocking, you can now mimic Gene Simmons with Animojis in news, as well as forge as much as you want. (This applies only to iPhone X, X S X S Max and X R User.) 5. We Now Have Enduring Experience

Similar to shared experience support, there is now persistent experience. This means that you can do something in an AR app at a certain time and place, and see someone else later in the same place. Apple states that it's useful to "create an Easter egg hunt or a persistent AR art exhibit," just a few examples of how it could be implemented by developers.

6. Virtual objects are even more realistic

Scene reflection. Yes, if you do not understand the meaning of it, you will use it once. Previously, developers could only throw 3D objects into a scene, but their textures would be boring and boring, without being aware of the environment. Now there is support for the reflection, so you can see the reflection of other real-life objects in space on the 3D object at appropriate angles.

7. AR Quick Look Works in Apple Apps

iOS 12 introduces a new file format, USDZ, that allows developers to create virtual content optimized for mobile devices that are supported by Apple's entire ecosystem become. For example, you can use Apple's AR Quick Look feature in apps like Mail, News, and Safari to quickly view and interact with AR content and animations in your environment. This means that you can buy furniture on websites in Safari without having to download another app to do the AR work.

8. More Animoji are Available

Apple's iOS 11.3 came with four new Animoji characters in addition to the 12 already available, but now there are four more: Ghost, Kuala, Tiger and T-Rex. This only applies to iPhone X users and users of an iPhone X S X S Max, or X R [19659016]

9. Animoji UI Looks Better

In iOS 11, there was a vertical selector on the page that allows you to select your Animoji in the News app, but in iOS 12, you can just swipe left or right. If you swipe up, the menu also expands to see all at once, if you do not like the carousel. This also applies only to the iPhone X, X S X S Max, and X R users.

10. You can create your own & # 39; Memoji & # 39;

Remember Memojis like Bitmojis in Snapchat. These are essentially avatars that you can do to present yourself or your personality in general. And Apple outperforms Bitmojis by allowing you to create as many memojis as you like. Ouch. This also applies to the iPhone X, X S X S Max and X R Users.
