Authorities in southern Oregon charged a 44-year-old man with first degree arson after allegedly doing so On Wednesday, he started a fire in the woods near the Frisbee golf course in the Dexter State Recreation Area.
Lane County Sheriff’s Office announced the charges on FridayNoting that the fire is unrelated to the fire Holiday farm in McKenzie Valley.
“The fire was in a wooded area and about 5 feet in diameter before it was put out by two people playing frisbee golf in the area,”

The MPs arrested Jonathan Maas on Thursday in relation to the Dexter fire.
“While this fire was discovered and extinguished before it got bigger, there was potential for the fire to spread rapidly,” the sheriff’s office said. “We are grateful to the community members who discovered the fire and put it out before it could injure anyone or cause structural damage.”
Though unrelated, the charges against the fair come as forest fires on the west coast, including Oregon. At least seven people have so far died from the fires in the state. according to the Oregonian.
