5 ways Alexa helps you wash

You probably know how useful Alexa is in the house, but have you ever used your echo or other Alexa-enabled device to help you wash? If not, do not miss it.

Here are some ways you can use Alexa commands and features to make washing easier.

Set timer

If you do not usually hear when your washer or dryer is buzzing, contact Alexa.

The first thing you need to do is set how long each load in your machine will last. Instead of standing in front of your washing machine all the time, you should check the machine after half an hour or 45 minutes to get a general idea.

Next, go to the Alexa app, tap the menu button (the three horizontal lines), and tap routines. Tap the plus sign to create a routine. With Alexa, you can not just set a timer in a routine, but there is a simple workaround. In If this is the case of the routine, select Voice and then enter everything you want Alexa to say to start the timer Machine Timer.

Then tap and add the action and select Wait .Select the amount of time your washer or dryer will need to finish a wash Finally, tap Add Action . Alexa says and enter whatever you want Alexa to tell you when the time runs out If you wash in your washing machine load, start the routine by saying the trigger phrase.

Get Cleaning Tips

You do not know how to clean anything? Activate the Laundry Buddy ability so you can ask Alexa. First you have to say "Alexa, Laundry Laundry," every time you have a question, all you have to do is ask your question.

Unfortunately, the skill does not seem to answer any specific questions about stains, but you'll get detailed answers about Rei cleaning of jeans, car seats and coats.

Explosion Stains

Although Laundry Buddy does not help with stains, this helps with the Tide Stain Remover FAQ. The skill includes instructions for removing more than 200 stains, including ink, sap, and grass stains. To use the ability, say something like "Alexa, tell Tide, I have a coffee stain."

Check for open washing machines and dryers

If you live in a dorm, some universities offer Alexa skills that allow you to monitor the availability of open washing machines and dryers in the laundry room. Some of these capabilities include Illinois Laundry Checker, Laundry Check and Terp Laundry.

A quick search for "laundry" and the name of your university in the skills search box should show the skill for your dorm if available.

Skip the Snuff Test

Can not remember when you last washed your sheets or your favorite hoodie? Next time you remember Alexa, you'll be using the "Laundry Mate" skill.

If you wash something, say, "Alexa, tell lingerie colleague, I washed my object today." If you need a reminder, ask, "Alexa, when did I last wash my item?"
