Answer: Alcatraz

Between January and March 2012 Alcatraz a serialized science fiction thriller and drama aired on FOX. The show focused on the history of the prison island and how an unexplained event in 1

963 led to the inmates and current staff appearing. The opening sequence of the show begins with a sweeping view of the island and actor Sam Neill:

On March 21, 1963, Alcatraz was officially closed. All the prisoners were brought from the island. Only that is not what happened. Not at all.

Not at all – the show features an alternate Alcatraz story involving many places on the island that do not exist (and were actually filmed in Vancouver). The captivating story of the show has led more than a few fans to search the island for their favorite spots on the show and often endanger themselves as a result of exploring the aging infrastructure outside approved tourist areas. As a result, the National Park Service has posted several signs across the island bearing this text:

The Alcatraz television show is fictitious, many of the areas it represents are not real. Closed areas protect you, historic buildings and breeding birds.

A much better plan (and approved by park attendant) would be to enjoy the creepy, atmospheric, and fictional Alcatraz interior from the comfort of your living room.
