Cortana: Amazon's Alexa language wizard could get to the Windows 10 lock screen. With a small, quiet change to a new insider build for Windows 10, third-party digital wizards may appear on the lock screen.
Microsoft does not rely too much on Cortana as a digital assistant. You can already download Alexa for Windows 1
This change was made in Windows 10 Insider Build 18362.10005. In a list of minor fixes, the following is included in the Microsoft blog post:
A change that allows third-party digital assistants to enable voice activation over the lock screen Access the lock screen. All that Amazon needs to do is enable this feature. Google (or even Apple) could also integrate into it – but only Amazon offers a Windows 10 app for Alexa.
This special insider version is for Windows 10 19H2 and is expected to be available in the second half of 2019 – expected in October 2019. Alexa could come to your PC's lock screen later this year.
