Amazon Echo: 6 Best New Features and How to Use Them

New features are coming to your Echo devices.

Your Amazon Echo device gets a lot New features, Which Amazon announced Thursday at a private, virtual media event. The changes range from a total redesigned range of echo speakers (They’re spherical!) To software improvements that promise to make your existing Amazon Echo smarter and more secure.

The tech giant also announced one rotating echo show and a flying surveillance camera drone that can survey your homealong with new ones Children’s echo devices.

Here are the six best new Amazon Echo features and how to use them as soon as they become available.

Echo Guard Plus increases home security

Amazon’s Echo Guard was released as a free home security feature that allows you to detect and alert you to broken glass and smoke alarm noises. Now Amazon wants to update you on Echo Guard Plus for $ 5 a month for even more security.

Your echo is waiting for additional sounds, e.g. B. Opening doors when you are not there and can play sounds like dogs barking to deter intruders. If further attention is required, Alexa can connect you to a 24/7 emergency number, which can then request medical, fire or police assistance.

Once the Echo Guard Plus is available, it can be accessed by opening the Alexa app on your phone and selecting More > the settings > Guard.

Alexa is getting smarter about your routines

You always had to use wake-up words like Alexa, Echo, Computer or Amazon to activate your smart speaker Routines. Now you can create routines that are activated by the sounds of a baby snoring, crying, or a dog barking. For example, a routine could be triggered to turn off your TV when it hears snoring noises. Or you can set up a routine that turns on the lights when you hear your baby cry.

When the new Routine feature is available, tap it to access it More > Routines in the Alexa app to set up all the details.

Group call

You will soon be able to call up to eight friends or relatives at the same time with Amazon’s new group calling feature. It works with audio through echo speakers and video calls through echo shows. To start with, you can say something like, “Alexa, call my family.” You can create and name groups in the Alexa app.

Share music

If you’re listening to music through your Echo speaker and a song comes up that reminds you of a friend, you’ll soon be able to share the song with them. All you have to say is, “Alexa, share this song with Jill.” After you’ve shared the song, the person can listen to it on their Echo device or the Alexa app.

Netflix on Echo Show

You can no longer just watch Amazon Prime movies on your Echo Show. If you have a Netflix account, you’ll soon be able to see it on your Echo Show. To use it, say something like, “Alexa, find comedy movies on Netflix.”

A new way to support people with medical concerns

Care Hub is designed to help you stay in touch with your aging loved ones remotely. Once it’s available, you’ll need to agree to connect your two Alexa accounts to get started. If your loved one needs help, they can say “Alexa, call for help” to get in touch.

You can also view their activity feed so you know if they’re active and moving, and set up an alert if the device doesn’t detect any activity before a certain time of day.
