Amazon’s child-friendly service for intelligent speakers and tablets has long been known as Amazon FreeTime. However, that̵

7;s not very descriptive, so Amazon is working on a rebranding. Amazon FreeTime and FreeTime Unlimited will soon switch to Amazon Kids and Kids +. And older kids get new content too.

The name rollout is just that, a new name that better describes what the service does. You get the same free and paid levels as before, and Amazon Kids and Kids + work with Alexa Smart Speakers, Fire Tablets, and more.

But older children also get new content, including a new start screen for Fire tablets. Amazon designed the new start screen to bridge the look between small children and adults and give the tablet a more “grown-up” look.

You can also now turn on announcements for Amazon Kids devices. Previously, “Freetime” speakers and tablets were excluded from announcements. However, the change is enabled so you are still in control.

Finally, Amazon adds hand-picked video titles geared towards the six- to twelve-year-old segment. Along with the videos, there is a new music option for Amazon Kids – IHeartRadio Family. As with previous Unlimited offers, Amazon Kids is free for parents, and an Amazon Kids + subscription starts at $ 2.99 per month. The changes will be rolled out in the coming months.
