Amazon Prime Day 2020: Find the best deals on SSDs, microSDs, hard drives and flash drives here

This story is part of Amazon Prime Day, CNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to make sure you are getting the best deal.

Amazon Prime Day 2020 Starts right after midnight PT on Tuesday October 13th and runs through Wednesday October 14th. It always has great deals on all types of storage – from memory cards and USB sticks to external and internal solid-state and hard drives. Prices can even compete with Black Friday, and just because the two are much closer together this year I still expect staggering prices.

Here are some examples from Prime Day 201

9:

  • 47% discount on WD Black 500 GB PCIe NVMe SSD
  • 53% off WD 6TB Elements Desktop Hard Drive
  • 82% discount on the SanDisk 400 GB Ultra microSDXC memory card
  • 86% discount on the SanDisk 256 GB Extreme microSDXC U3 memory card

While these companies were excited about their Prime Day discounts, SSD maker SK Hynix has announced its Gold P31 PCIe NVMe SSD and Gold S31 3D NAND 2.5-inch SATA III internal SSD will be approximately 50% from their original MSRPs. ONE 250GB S31 is only $ 35.19, for example. Most of the prizes for Prime Day 2020 are still a mystery. So I’ve linked to the Amazon store pages of the following brands for bookmarking. When Prime Day starts we will update this page with the best deals we can find.

Note that the products listed below are not Prime Day “deals” per se, but currently offer good values at or near their all-time low prices, according to camelcamelcamel, the price tracking website.

WD

This 4TB drive is great for backing up important files on the go. It’s powered by your computer’s USB-A port, so you don’t have to find a power outlet to access or save your files.

SanDisk

The Extreme cards are only slightly slower than the Extreme Pro cards from SanDisk, but they offer enough speed for your action camera, drone, game console, phone or tablet. And that’s a tremendous amount of storage space (just make sure your device supports cards that big).

Lexar

If you have an older laptop that needs more storage space, Lexar’s 2.5-inch SSD is an expensive option. It comes in capacities from 128 GB to 1 TB.

PNY

The small capless flash drives from PNY offer large storage space that you can carry on a keychain. The Turbo Attaché 3 is a USB 3.0 drive, making it faster than the average inexpensive USB 2.0 USB stick – ten times faster, says PNY.

How to search for additional storage options on site

We anticipate more store sales will be seen once Prime Day discounts officially begin on Tuesday. However, if you beat us, you can check out the landing pages of these top brands by clicking the links below.
