The SenseAge kickstand is just the tablet accessory I was looking for.

Stands are fantastic. This is a universal truth that, despite its undeniable nature, does not seem to be recognized by the majority of the technology press. I will do my part to alleviate this with SenseAge's Universal Flat Flat Stand.

Here's what we like

  • Works with any 10-inch tablet or larger tablets, or cases
  • Weight or thickness
  • Works vertically or horizontally
  • Inexpensive

And what we do not Do

  • Need Careful Placement on Larger Tablets

To be clear, this is not a dazzling new product at the apex of a lightning press. It's not a crazy idea in a garage or anything special. I just saw it on Amazon and decided to use my Chromebook tablet with a keyboard. But it seems to be unique: there are some variations of universal cell phone kickstand devices (see PopSockets and the like), but I've never seen a tablet kickstand so seamlessly integrated into any large format design.

And in a word, it's great. In two words, the SenseAge design is fantastic. That way, I can definitely add a semi-permanent kickstand to any 10-inch tablet or larger tablet while adding nearly zero volume or weight to my mobile setup. All this for under twenty dollars? I love it.

Kick It Up

From a purely physical point of view, this thing does not have much to offer. There are a few wrinkles of rigid plastic, some 3M glue that will adhere to the back of your tablet or case, and a few magnets to hold the material in its folded or unfolded state. That's it.

If you're looking for a comparison, the origami tablet cases sold for some Asus designs and the expensive Amazon Kindle models are similar. Pull out the outer fold and it snaps in so you can position the tablet in landscape or portrait orientation at a fixed angle.

The advantage here is that it is universally applicable and can be applied to almost any slate. shaped gadget. It's great for desktop PCs running Windows or Chrome that are not equipped with their own Surface-Style kicks and can not be placed in place of a dedicated keyboard.

When the kickstand is flipped down, it adds almost nothing to the bulk. It's easy to put in my pocket.

The simplicity of the design is remarkable. With just three folds, this thing can support a tablet in two modes, adding almost no weight and only about an eighth of an inch in thickness. The outer fold is finished with a matte plastic finish, while the inside is lined with microfibers, which dampens the mild "snap" of the stand when opening or closing the base. It's such a simple idea and execution that I'm amazed that I have never seen anything like it, and the design seems to be available only from this manufacturer.

Measure Twice, Hold on

There is not much to complain about with this Kickstand thing. It's very versatile: with folded dimensions of 8.5 x 6 inches, it should work on almost any 10-inch tablet or more. The design allows only one fold-out angle – name it two if you count both landscape and portrait modes. A smart engineer may think of a way to fold something like that into multiple positions, but for a $ 17 accessory, that's more than forgivable.

The stand is applied to the tray with 3M adhesive and remains closed or open with Ding magnets.

The universal, manufacturer-independent design of the kickstand with clip-on function has one drawback: You should be careful when sticking it to your tablet or case. The 3M tape on the back leaves no noticeable residue, but it sticks very tightly, and if you need to remove it, make sure that the plastic does not kink when peeled off.

Caution It is necessary to use the stand in the best place for setting up larger tablets.

There is another consideration: balance. Depending on the size and weight of your tablet, the ideal position for the stand will change. You would like to experiment a little to experiment with the mounting point so that the angled edges of the plastic sit flush in landscape orientation and the angle of the screen in portrait orientation is not too vertical. I recommend storing the protective paper on the stand while testing different areas with easy-to-remove double-sided tape.

This Stand Provides

Despite the ergonomic limitations of the universal design, I am extremely pleased with this accessory. This allows me to leave my reliable but relatively heavy anchor stand at home when I pack my Chrome tablet with my keyboard and mouse for work. And even better, it's one less thing to pack, but does not bother when folded, so I can use the tablet in a more manageable slate-like capacity.

SenseAge's fold-out design can be applied to any medium-to-large tablet or even a case for extra protection. It's a fantastic solution if your tablet of choice (like my HP Chromebook X2) does not offer widespread support for iPad or Kindle Fire cables. While $ 17 is a little too much for the actual material of the product, I am absolutely thrilled with the execution and will buy more for tablets that I will use without hesitation in the future.

It's easy. It s cheap. It is brilliant. If you want an easy way to set up your tablet without adding bulk, this is a fantastic way to achieve it.
