Android 101: Download or share a Google Photos album

One thing Google really wants you to do is stay with Google. Because the more you do things on Google, the more data the business can monetize. The result is that while it's possible to retrieve your emails, photos, and other material outside of Googleverse, this is a bit more difficult.

Let's say you want to show your favorite grandparent an album of family photos stored in Google Photos. If they are reasonably Google-savvy, this is not a problem at all. They just release the album for them.

Share a photo album on the web

  1. Click Albums on the left menu.
  2. Hover over the album you want to share and click on the three dots.
  3. Click Share Album.

  2. Select the album you want to share.

But suppose your grandparents do not want to go online and just want to put copies of the photos on their computer. Then it gets a bit more complicated.

Actually, the wrong word can be complicated. It is not difficult to download an album. You just have to know where to look.

  1. Click Albums in the left menu.
  2. Select the album you want to share.
  3. Click on the three dots in the top right corner and select "Download" all. "
  4. Google will then download a zip file containing the photos from your album.

You can also export multiple albums (or all of your albums) using Google Takeout to export data stored in your Google Account:

  1. Go to the Download Data page Your account.
  2. Click "Deselect" (this page will automatically review any Google services you use).
  3. Scroll to Google Photos and enable it by checking the box.
  4. Click the "Include All Photo Albums" button. Click Disable All again and check the boxes of the albums you want to download.

Download an album with the amount of ile Photos app

The answer is quite simple: you can not. However, there are some workarounds that you can use. For example, you can use Google Takeout with your mobile device's browser and following the steps above. You can also share and download the photos in the album via email or Google Drive. This second method is quite cumbersome but works.

To share them via email or on the drive:

  1. Select albums in the photo app at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap the album you want to download.
  3. Hold down the first photo until the checkbox in the upper left corner of the photo is activated. Then drag your finger down until all photos in the album are highlighted.
  4. Touch the Share icon at the top right of the screen.
  5. From here you can either e-mail the photos to yourself (an oldie) but send goodie), or save them to Google Drive and download them from there.

With more people using their phones than laptops or other larger systems, it's not possible to perform certain tasks on a mobile device, such as downloading an album, to say the least Hopefully, Google acknowledges this.
