Android 11: how to install it on these phones now

Android 11

Android 11 is here.

Jason Cipriani / CNET

Android 11 is ready for your phone. The update brings a number of new features, including A screen for controlling your connected devices, redesigned media controls, improved notifications, and a new messaging feature called Vesiclesthat you will either love or hate.

As is usually the case with Major Android updatesHow quickly you get the update depends on who is making your device. Google has said that Android 1

1 will run on its Pixel 2 and newer phones in this area, along with OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo and Realme Phones now.

Own a pixel? You are a few steps away from Android 11

Open the Settings app on your phone and tap on at least one Pixel phone system > Advanced > System update > Check for update. If your phone doesn’t find the update right away, be patient. As always with Google, the update is being introduced slowly. So it may take a few days for it to appear on your phone. Just keep checking.

When your phone finds the update, just follow the instructions to install it like any other update. I recommend plugging your phone into a charger and a strong Wi-Fi connection to make sure the process goes as smoothly as possible.

Android 11 is delivered to your Android phone like a normal update.

There is an open beta for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro

If you have one OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 ProThe company has launched an open beta version of its OxygenOS 11 update that includes Android 11. Those who want to test out the new features before their official release must visit the OnePlus forums, where instructions and details are posted. The installation process doesn’t force you to reset your device or lose data. However, it is a beta version. So proceed carefully.

I installed the update on a OnePlus 8 and carried out the steps described in the article. It took about 30 minutes to complete. You can download the file directly to your OnePlus phone and move it to the root storage folder using the OnePlus file manager app, or download it to your computer and transfer the file to your phone to install.

You can revert to a more stable version of OxygenOS if there are too many beta issues. Be warned though become Erase all data from your phone.

What about Nokia, Xiaomi, Oppo?

Not every phone maker has publicly announced its Android 11 rollout plans, but we know Nokia has confirmed that Android 11 will be released.

Oppo will officially announce its ColorOS 11 update via livestream on September 14th and has also opened a limited beta for Find X2, Find X2 Pro, Reno3 (4G) and Reno3 Pro (4G).

Xiaomi announced on Twitter that the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro will be the first devices to receive Android 11, and the company has also launched a beta program for early adopters.

We’ll keep updating this list as more device manufacturers announce their plans to roll out Android 11 on their respective phones.

What do you do if you’ve been in public beta?

You shouldn’t have to do anything special if you’ve tested Android 11 on a Pixel phone through Google’s public beta program. As soon as the update is available for your phone, you will update to the official version of Android 11 and “complete” the beta program.

You can check that you are no longer registered for the beta program on the beta website: your device should read “Sign In” underneath.

I’ve been testing and finding Android 11 for a while now Some features that will change the way you use your phone. There are some too significant improvements in data protection functions included in the update. For more general, but still just as great Android tricks, Check out these hidden features.
