To share the credentials of your Wi-Fi network, tap Share.

Stop searching for scraps of paper with your Wi-Fi password. And no longer enter the password incorrectly. In Google's Android Q, you can generate a QR code with the credentials for your Wi-Fi network that guests can scan to their mobile phone's camera to sign in.

You may find third-party apps in Android phones, but it requires a little setup. In Android Q just tap a button to generate a share code. It is based on the Wi-Fi Easy Connect standard of the Wi-Fi Alliance to share network permissions with a QR code.

Android Q lets you add devices to a network you manage, and manage them with a QR code on a sticker or display. The device must support the Easy Connect Wi-Fi standard for this to work.

Android Q lets you share your Wi-Fi credentials with a QR code.

  1. Go to Settings, then Network and Internet, then to your Wi-Fi network and tap the device to the right of your network. [19659014] In the Network Details window, tap the blue Share button on the right.

  2. Enter your password to generate a QR code with the Wi-Fi name and password.

There is no way to save the QR code, so you need to regenerate it each time you use it.

To scan a QR code to connect to a network

On Android, you can choose Add Network at the bottom of the Wi-Fi settings to scan a QR code. However, what is easier, the Camera app can scan QR codes as soon as you turn on the lens:

  1. Open the Camera app from Android.

  2. If you have not used the lens yet, tap More in the camera settings that run across the bottom.

  3. Tap Lens, and then tap Turn on Camera to use the lens.

  4. Now position the camera viewfinder Tap the QR code and tap the code.

  5. If the name of the network appears below the QR code, tap it to go to the Wi-Fi network.

On an iPhone ($ 1,000 on Amazon) and iPad ($ 280 on Amazon) With iOS 11 it's even easier:

  1. iOS Camera App open

  2. Position the viewfinder of the camera app over the QR code. When the camera detects the QR code, it displays a notification.

  3. Tap the notification to connect to the Wi-Fi network.

Either on the iPhone or Android, after clicking on the notification, you are on the Wi-Fi network, do not enter a password.
