Creating a Memoji
First, you must run iOS 12 on your iPhone X to try this feature. The developer beta is currently available and the public beta will be released in the coming weeks. In both cases, you can use the following instructions to install iOS 12:
If iOS 12 is installed, navigate to any thread in the News app and tap the App Store Animoji icon to the left of the text box. Icon in the menu bar that appears below the text box. From there, scroll to the left side of the list and tap the + button to start creating a memojis.
From here, things are pretty self-explanatory, but I'll guide you through to be sure. Start by selecting a skin tone, and remember, memojis are just for your face. Once you've selected a root, you can use the slider to fine-tune. Next, scroll down this page and you can choose the number of freckles you want to add to your face.
When you're done with the first tab, either swipe left to the left to switch to the next tab, or simply tap on the name "Hairstyle" to manually select it. Similar to the Skin Color tab, you can select a color and then use the slider to fine-tune it. There is also a color selection button on the far right, which shows even more color options. After you have set a hair color, scroll down to select a hairstyle.
Next, swipe left To change your head shape, set this process for Her eyes, eyebrows, nose, lips, ears, facial hair and accessories continued. Each menu on the way will be virtually identical to the two shown above, except with different choices.
If you are satisfied with the look of your Memoji, be sure to tap the Done button in the top right corner. From here, you can use your Memoji in the News app by reselecting the Animoji icon in a message thread. If you want to go back and make changes to it, tap the ellipsis icon in that menu and choose Edit.
You can even create more than one Memoji if you want. Just open your news app and go to any iMessage thread. Then tap the Animoji icon in the menu bar above your keyboard. Scroll to the left of your first memoji and press the + key again and you will start over. So far, I have made six memoji, so there seems to be no limit to how many you can create.
As with Animoji, you can overlay your face with a Memoji during FaceTime video calls in iOS 12 If you want to learn more about how it works, read the following guide.
