Public beta testers are currently plugged into iOS 12.1.3, but not for long. Apple could already release the first public beta for iOS 12.2 today. The company released yesterday, January 24, the first developer beta for the software, which includes new features for HealthKit and News, as well as a number of pointers for future developments.
While Apple was able to release public beta version 1 this afternoon, it is possible that the software will take longer to arrive. For example, the first public beta of iOS 12.1 was released two days after its developer beta, and MacRumors beta expert Banglazed claims the update could stall under developer beta 2.

Not included in the Apple release notes, but new features are more exciting. According to 9to5Mac, we see a "Hey Siri" setup interface for the upcoming AirPods 2, hints on AirPlay 2 support in the HomeKit app, a new screen mirroring icon in Control Center, a new Control Center tile for Apple TV. Remote is now working with AirPlay 2 TVs, a new look for "Last Transactions" details in Wallet, a world-class Apple News service in the works, a new air quality switch in Maps, and possibly a music player in Siri.
If you want to upgrade your iPhone to iOS 12.2 public beta version 1, you must first sign up for the beta program and have a valid configuration profile. If the new "Automatic Updates" are enabled for iOS 12, you can have the software updated overnight. To download the beta version now, start Settings, select "General" and then "Software Update". Tap "Download and Install" and follow the instructions on the screen.
