Apple releases iOS 13.5.5 Developer Beta 1 for iPhone and contains information on audio support in Apple News + «iOS & iPhone :: Gadget Hacks

Apple released the first developer beta for iOS 13.5.5 on Monday June 1st. The update will be released on the same day that Apple released iOS 13.5.1 that patched the unc0ver jailbreak and 12 days after iOS 13.5. This introduced COVID-19 exposure notifications, among other new features.

Apple released the update at 11 a.m. PDT, an unusual time for Apple because 10 a.m. PDT is the point of contact for software updates. It is possible that the company may want to delete this period for the release of 13.5.1 and publish the beta of 13.5.5 itself. The public beta was released a few hours later.

However, this update is only for registered developers. If you're a public beta tester, you'll have to wait for Apple to release public beta 1

13.5.5, which we're expected to see at 1:00 p.m. PDT today or 10 a.m. PDT tomorrow.

So far, the only significant change to the notes is the verification of audio support in Apple News +. As reported by MacRumors, the code from 13.5.5 contains images labeled "News + Audio". It supports Digiday rumors that Apple is working with publications to create audio versions of articles that will then be available to Apple News + subscribers.
