Apple is ready to release the second beta for iOS 12.4 today, May 20, five days after the release of the first developer beta for iOS 12.4 and one week after the release of iOS 12.3. In general, the iOS 12.4 update will support Apple Card, Apple's upcoming credit card, which will come out this summer.
We do not yet know if iOS 12.4 dev beta 2 iOS 12.4 adds new features as a whole. And we also do not know what the public beta situation will look like. Apple has never released a public beta for iOS 12.4 Beta 1, which surprised us and beta testers down the line, especially since public beta 1 for iOS 12.3 was released just one day after the developer release. We expect Apple will release a public beta for iOS 1
Aside from the preventive support for the Apple Card, we did not find any new features in iOS 12.4, and we do not know what bug fixes it may contain (if any). The release notes for Dev Beta 1 did not offer much detail, but this is normal for the first beta of a point update:
- The iOS 12.2 SDK provides support for developing iOS apps for the iPhone. iPad or iPod touch devices with iOS 12.4. The SDK ships with Xcode 10.2.1, available on the Mac App Store. For Xcode 10.2.1 compatibility requirements, see the Xcode 10.2.1 Release Notes.
- There are no SDK release notes for this software update.
To download and update your iPhone on iOS 12.4 dev beta 2 When it comes out, you must first be a registered developer with a valid configuration profile. If you have iOS 12 "Automatic Updates" turned on, you can have the software updated overnight. To instantly install, start the Settings app, choose General, and then Software Update. Tap "Download and install" and follow the instructions on the screen.
