Following in the footsteps of other major surveillance camera brands, Netgear-owned Arlo Technologies has unveiled a completely new security system with a hub, siren and multi-sensor.
The brain of the system is the Arlo SmartHub, which can also be connected to Arlo's latest ultra-security camera (see figure below) and older Arlo Pro cameras. You also get multi-sensors that can be used as door / window sensors, motion sensors, water leak sensors, or as a sound sensor that waits for your smoke detector and notifies you when it fires.
The system also includes a siren with red LED flashes. Each time the system detects a burglary, the siren sounds and flashes red, informing you that an intrusion has occurred, and you can contact the local authorities. You can also use the siren to bark certain sounds like a TV or a dog.
You also get a remote control to enable and disable the system. As mentioned earlier, the hub also works with Arlo Ultra and Pro cameras. So you can synchronize all your Arlo products work together.
No specific price was specified, but availability is set for the second half of 2019, with support for Z-Wave and ZigBee devices also arriving eventually – for directly supporting third-party accessories such as Philips Smart Lights and Yale castles.
