Barnes & Noble downsizes its new corner to 7 inches and $ 50 – Review Geek

The shops of Barnes & Noble are still open. Really! And the company still sells Nook tablets. Really! B & N launched a new Nook last month that competed with the biggest Kindle Fire, and now they have a smaller option as well.

The 7-inch device, simply referred to as the "Nook" brand, is reminiscent of the original Nook-color Android tablet hardware and standardized software. The screen is 1

024×600 with low resolution, which is sufficient for reading text. Unlike Amazon's Kindles and some of Barnes & Noble's earlier offerings, this Nook includes the Google Play Store for nearly unlimited Android apps and games.

Wi-Fi, a standard headphone jack, and a MicroSD card slot are included, which is good because the tablet only has 16GB of storage on board. Barnes & Noble does not want to talk about processors, RAM or Android software versions. A two megapixel reversing camera and a VGA front camera are nothing special, but with a retail price of just $ 50, you can not ask for much more.

Of course, Barnes & preinstalled. Noble digital Nook bookstore, kid-friendly apps, and a read-focused social network called Browsery. But if you're just looking for an alternative to the low-priced Kindle Fire designs that do not rely on Amazon Appstore, this is the case. Barnes & Noble probably does not appreciate it when we point out, but there's nothing to stop you from downloading the Kindle app from the Play Store in the Nook and having the best of both worlds.
