This can be problematic, depending on what you want to do with these photos. If you For example, to order online prints or create a slideshow with a service like Animoto, the HEIC format will not be accepted. In fact, it's easy to display these photos in Windows without an additional plug-in. Luckily, there is a free HEIC codec in the Windows App Store.
In my situation, I had a series of vacation photos that I wanted to turn into a slideshow, but the software did not support HEIC. And I did not want to manually import one photo at a time into an image editor and save it as a JPEG.
Luckily I did not have to. iMazing HEIC Converter is a free utility (available for Windows and Mac) that can convert HEIC photos to JPEG or PNG format.
Install and start the program and open an explorer window with your HEIC files. Drag one or more files into the converter, choose a format and decide if you want to keep EXIF data (embedded information about each photo).
Finally, click Convert and specify where the program should stand to save the converted files. And that's it!
