Recent months have released some great new versions of Magic Leap, but that does not mean that the development team at the platform is resting on its laurels.
Magic Leap invited users on Thursday Join the Lumin OS beta program, which includes a pretty important new feature that fundamentally changes how developers design apps for Magic Leap One.

"Map Merge, the opportunity for 2+ individuals to share a common MR experience on ML1 to have it in an experimental version in Update 4, "says the Magic Leap Team's beta update note on its website.
"Under the hood, devices will use a shared anchor point and a shared content sharing PCF, which is not initially available to everyone in Update 4, but I would like to offer this opportunity to attend an Early Join us on Beta. "
Currently, most Magic Leap One experiences involve either a single user interacting with an augmented reality environment or multiple users at remote locations (as in the case of Avatar Chat). that interact with each other, but not experiencing the same virtual components in real time.
What this new experimental feature brings is a much broader range of shared augmented reality experiences that could pave the way for broader system acceptance.
The idea of "Map Merge" was partially filed in a patent filed by Magic Leap in 2015. This patent was granted only a few months ago, in October 2018.
"The augmented reality system also includes a processor that communicates with one or more augmented individuals with reality display systems to forward a portion of the passable world model data to the one or more individual augmented reality display systems, wherein the piece the passable world model data is at least partially transmitted based on respective locations corresponding to the one or more individuals. Augmented reality display systems "as described in the patent entitled" Using a World Map for Augmented or Virtual Reality Systems ".
While some may think of the game application, if the feature capability is enabled, the dynamics have even greater impact on the users of Magic Leap One who work and train together in the same location.
There's no information about when the feature will leave the beta and reach everyone If you're interested in trying it out, the time is up because the deadline is February 8th. For more information, visit the Magic Leap website.
