“People are going to die because of these types of events and that is from the President of the United States,” she said. “And you look at people who may not be wearing masks or who might not take it seriously, and you see how that is the case.”
Though Biden broadly approves of the diplomatic breakthrough that will be commemorated in the White House on Tuesday, she said, “Trump continues to only suggest that we are not in the middle of a pandemic and it is really problematic but so symbolic of its lack of leadership and what we will continue to focus on. ”
The Trump campaign has repeatedly defended the resumption of campaign rallies amid the pandemic. Thousands of fans have packed aircraft hangars for the events in recent weeks, avoiding safety precautions such as masks and physical distancing in particular. The campaign has argued that it is a voter’s choice to attend Trump’s rallies, which O’Malley Dillon described as “superspreader” events for the coronavirus.
Biden has been criticized for his relatively light campaign plan throughout the pandemic and opted for fully virtual events until last month. He has since resumed campaign travel, with smaller events where masks and social distancing are ubiquitous.
