Some time ago I gave advice to select the best music service for your family with a view to expediency, versatility and, above all, price

One important consideration that I completely forgot was explicit texts , Given that pretty much every modern song contains a bad language (that's right, I said it ̵

1; now go out of my lawn!), Parents might want the option to block those songs, or at least make sure that clean versions to be played. [19659004] Good news: Most major music streaming services have an explicit lyrics filter. Here's a look at the options and, where applicable, how to activate them.

Amazon Music

Explicit Lyrics Filter: Yes

Subscribers to Amazon Prime receive unlimited, commercial free access to a library of approximately 2 million songs. Subscribers to Amazon Music get a lot more.

Both layers now contain a filter for explicit text.

To turn it on: On your smartphone or tablet, open the Amazon Music app, go to Settings, and enable Block Explicit Songs .

Apple Music

Explicit Lyrics Filter: Yes

Apple provides a fairly robust explicit-content filter that includes not only music but also music videos, podcasts, and news. If Apple Music offers a "clean" version of a particular song, it will play instead of the explicit one.

Procedure: You must do this on every single iDevice. Tap Settings> General> Restrictions then Enable restrictions and create a four-digit passcode so only you can disable the restrictions. From there, scroll to the Permitted Content section, tap Music & News and clear the Explicit option

Google Play Music

Explicit Lyrics Filter: Partial

The Music Service of Google includes the "Block explicit songs" option, but only those that play on its radio stations. The filter does not apply to the larger library of on-demand music, which is probably the crucial point of subscribing.

How to Activate It: Switch to Settings in the app and turn on Block Explicit Songs on the Radio . Open Google Play Music in your desktop browser, click the menu icon, and then Settings . In the General section, check the box Block explicit songs on the radio

Pandora

Explicit text filter: Yes

Pandora has no family plan to talk about. Although you can disable the explicit content within your mobile apps, there's nothing that could prevent your kids from turning them back on if you're not looking.

To activate it: In the app, tap the menu icon, and then tap Settings> Account . Tap Allow explicit content to turn it off

Spotify

It took a while, but Spotify has finally added the option to block explicit songs.
