Create animated selfie stickers on your iPhone. Use Giphy's new Keyboard extension «iOS & iPhone :: Gadget Hacks



Giphy has had some apps for iOS over the years. Giphy Keys was a keyboard specially designed for GIFs. With Giphy Cam you can create your GIFs with stickers. Giphy World serves to add augmented reality stickers to the real world. Now, Giphy has integrated elements of all these elements into its main app so you can create, find and share GIFs and stickers directly from your keyboard.

Giphy version 3.4.0 for iPhones adds a keyboard extension to give you access to all the tools you not only need to find and create cool GIFs, but also to create your own selfie gifs Create stickers with your iPhone X. X S X S Max or X R TrueDepth camera system. The custom selfie GIF stickers remove the background so only the face and torso are highlighted.

Step 1
: Install or Update Giphy

Install Giphy on your iPhone if you have not already. If you already have the Giphy search app, make sure you update it to version 3.4.0.

Step 2: Activate the keyboard

When you first open the new or updated app. It should prompt you to set up the keyboard extension. Tap the "Go to settings" link to do just that. Tap on "Keyboards" and then switch to "GIPHY". Next, go to "Allow Full Access" and tap "Allow" at the prompt. That's all that goes with it.

When you receive the prompt when you use the keyboard extension or later, you'll find the same menu as above under "GIPHY" in your Settings app. Alternatively, you can also enable it via Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> Keyboards -> Add New Keyboard -> GIPHY, and then tap "GIPHY" for full access as shown above.

Step 3: Find and Share GIFs & Stickers

Now you can switch to the Giphy keyboard in News, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, Instagram or wherever you normally use GIFs and stickers. Hold down the globe icon and select "GIPHY" from the list. That's it. From there, you can swipe left and right to search on the "GIFs" and "Stickers" tabs. When you've found one you like, tap it, tap in the text box and press "Paste."

Step 4: Take a selfie sticker and share it

Creating custom animated stickers with the TrueDepth camera system is new in both the app itself and the keyboard. Tap the camera icon on the Giphy keyboard to open the Giphy app itself. If you are using the camera for the first time in Giphy, you must first allow it. Next, select the "Stickers" tab for quick access to label manufacturer information.

The label maker is intended for the iPhone X only, X S X S Max or X R .

After you close the About pop-up window, you can access it directly. When you tap the shutter button, only one or two still images are displayed. Hold down the trigger to capture a full selfie GIF sticker. After releasing the trigger, Giphy will take you back to the app you were in and automatically copy your new sticker to the clipboard. All you have to do is paste it into the text box.

If you set them using the keyboard, they will not uploaded the Giphy website so nobody can see it (other than who you share it with). If you'd like to upload to Giphy to later mark them as favorites for sharing via the profile icon on the keyboard, you can create stickers directly from the Giphy app and then upload them to your account.

Step 5: Take & Share Regular GIFs

Creating GIFs is not new in the Giphy app itself, but you can access them directly from the new keyboard. Either way, every iPhone model works, not just newer models with the TrueDepth system.

Just as in the previous step, tap the camera icon in the Giphy keyboard to open the selfie camera in the Giphy app. Then tap and hold the shutter button to record your GIF. After that, a preview will be displayed, and you will be able to view or trim labels, filters, and stickers and cut them into loops.

When you've made any desired changes to the GIF, tap the arrow button to upload it and send it back to the Giphy keyboard for automatic copying. Then insert them where they are needed.

All the GIFs you create using the keyboard are not on Uploaded to Giphy's website so nobody can see them (except who you share them with). If you want to upload to Giphy to mark as a favorite for later sharing, you can create GIFs directly in the Giphy app and then upload them to your account.
