Designing business cards with Microsoft Word

If you need to create business cards but have no experience with sophisticated design software such as InDesign and Photoshop, you can use Word's business card template. You do not see a template that you like? Design your cards from scratch.

Designing Business Cards in Word

Before we look at the business card design, it is important to understand what content you should add. The content on the map may vary slightly depending on the industry. Here are the basics:

  • First and Last Name
  • Job Title
  • Address
  • Phone Number
  • Website URL [1

Now it's time to get a business card Design. Open Microsoft Word, go to the "File" tab and select "New" in the left pane.

tab Search in the search bar at the top of the Business Cards window.

A large selection of templates appears.

Scroll through the business card templates library and select the one you like best. After selection, a window with a preview and a description of the template will be displayed. Click on "Create".

Your business cards are now displayed. All you have to do is enter your details.

If you can not find a matching template, you can create your own design via A mix of creating a spreadsheet, adding images, and formatting text.

Open a blank Word document, go to the Insert tab, and click Table.

A drop-down menu appears. Create a 2 × 4 table by holding the mouse pointer over it and selecting the appropriate block. You can create more lines as you like, but 2 × 4 fits on a single page.

The table is now displayed in your Word document and needed to change a few settings. Right-click on the selection crosshairs of the table and then select "Table Properties" from the menu.

The Table Properties window is now displayed. On the Table tab, in the Alignment section, choose Center. This will help you to keep your cards nice and even on the page.

Next, go to the "Series" tab. Check the "Specify height" box here, set the height to two inches, and then choose "Exactly" as the row height.

Let's go to "Column" above "Tab. Check the Preferred Width check box, set the width to three inches, and then click OK.

The size of your spreadsheet is now adjusted to the default business card size, but you may notice that our spreadsheet is slightly wider than our margin allows.

Your business cards will now be inside the page margin.

Now you just have to fill in your table informationadd, format the text with the formatting tools, add a picture and get started!
