Microsoft resumes the PowerToys project. These utilities are designed for power users and may include a keyboard shortcut manager, a batch file renamer, and a window manager that can change the window layout when docking or docking a laptop.
The PowerToys project, which originally started for Windows 95, is a package of useful utilities. The best known was TweakUI, which provided an interface to configure hidden settings in Windows that would otherwise have to edit the Windows registry. Windows XP also received a number of PowerToys applications. A complete list of included PowerToys is available on Wikipedia.
Microsoft has largely stopped PowerToys after Windows XP, but now they are coming back. This time around, the PowerToys project is open source with the source code available on Microsoft GitHub.
No PowerToys have been released yet, but Microsoft is working on two that will be previewed in the summer of 201
There is a "Maximize to new desktop widget", which will appear when you move across the Maximize or Restore button in any window. You can click the button to create a new desktop, send the app to that desktop, and maximize the app on this new desktop. It's a convenient way to interact with Windows 10 virtual task desktops.
Microsoft will also create a Windows keyboard shortcut. If you press and hold the Windows key for more than one second, the available Windows shortcuts appear on the screen. This list is context sensitive. Only links suitable for the current status of the screen are displayed. Sure, serious Windows users know most of these features, but Windows keyboard shortcuts are powerful and usually hard to discover.
