Dark mode is one of the most requested features today, but more important in a navigation app. If you use Google Maps for driving directions while driving at night, the standard white background will shock your eyes and make it harder to see the road in front of you. Luckily, you can now turn on a dark theme to make this whole process much safer.
Because a full dark mode in Google Maps would make it hard to read the normal map, Google has just implemented it for navigation. By default, the dark mode in navigation is automatically activated when the light sensor on your phone detects low light. You can also set it to always be in dark mode. This will allow you to easily navigate the map while searching for a destination, but still save some time while traveling with turn-by-turn directions.
: Download the latest version of Google Maps.
Visit the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) and download the latest version of Google Maps, as the dark mode feature is still relatively new.
- Install or update Google Maps: Android (free) | iOS (free)
Step 2: Enabling Dark Mode
Now open Google Maps and select the Hamburger menu in the upper left corner of your ad , Select "Settings" and then "Navigation". For iPhone users, this option tops the list. Android users need to scroll down to find the "Navigation Settings" option.
