Everything You Need to Know About iOS 12 Camera News for News «iOS & iPhone :: Gadget Hacks

With iOS 12, your iPhone app has more features than ever before to enhance iMessage and FaceTime. These changes include the new camera effects that allow users to add fun and unique customizations to their photos and videos with the in-app camera in messages. Stickers, Memoji and more are waiting for the photos you take and send messages. …

The caveat, however, is that the following effects are not available outside the News app. If you try to search for them during a normal photo, you will not find them. Instead, every time you want to apply an iOS 12 camera effect to an image, you must switch back to the News app, even if you do not intend to send it via messages.

. 1
You can use effects in photos and videos

Effects can be used in both photos and videos in iOS 12. Do not worry if you've already taken a picture or shot a video – effects can be posted before and so you never have to worry about missing out on your chance, a sticker or a Add effect. However, the effects are not compatible with Slo-Mo, portrait, square, or pano camera modes.

Knowledge That animated effects work only when used in videos. Otherwise, iOS "freezes" the effect for the first image for your photo. We hope that Apple will finally give users the ability to choose which frame to use for a particular animated effect.

. 2 You can add your Animoji & Memoji to the mix

If you ever wanted to replace your own face with your Animoji or Memoji, the effects of the news camera are right for you. With the new tool, users can place their animoji and memoji over photos and videos and light up their inner avatar. Of course, this only applies to iPhone X owners with the TrueDepth front camera.

. 4 You can write on your photos with unique text stickers

Do you have something to say? Use the text stickers in messages to make your point. Apple offers 18 new text stickers that you can add to your photos and videos, each in color, shape and theme. You can find this option by tapping the Aa button in the Effects drawer.

If you find a text sticker that matches your mood, tap it, type in your message, and then drag it to your liking. You can add as many photos as you like, so keep typing!

. 5 You can use animated shapes to highlight topics

If you need to make a point in your photo or video, there's no better way than using shape stickers in messages. These stickers are colorful, animated and hard to ignore, so your viewers know exactly where to look. The shapes are located under the red scribble icon in the camera's Effects drawer.

Apple has developed 15 options that allow users to test their news photos and videos. As with any other sticker, you can simply tap or drag the sticker and reposition and resize it as needed.

6. Apple Watch Activity Stickers Are Available to All

Before you can purchase iOS 12, you must receive rewards with your Apple Watch before you can gain access to the activity sticker for this award. Apple's new update changes that. While their acclaimed awards are still available as stickers, Apple has added new, animated stickers for all Apple Watch owners. You can attach these and all received reward stickers to your photos and videos. Needless to say, this is only available to owners of an Apple Watch.

. 7 Your downloaded stickers are welcome here

In addition to the activity stickers, iOS 12 allows you to access compatible sticker packs that you have downloaded into messages. These work just like any other sticker listed here and add an extra layer of personalization to your Camera Effects drawer.

8. Sticker card to photo or video theme

If iOS can recognize a face in the camera preview in messages, any subsequent stickers that you add to the preview will be mapped to that face. You can move the camera in all directions and the stickers stick to your subject.

You can change the positions of the stickers at any time – as long as the face remains in the frame, the stickers stay where you want them
