On the way to summer, there are two things to look forward to: warmer weather and the release of the latest OnePlus device. This time it was hard for OnePlus to follow as the 6T was one of the best phones in years. After the unveiling of the OnePlus 7 Pro, however, it was clear that it was up to the challenge.
That was not a typo. OnePlus has developed a new Pro version, the 7 Pro, for its flagship line, which is slightly different from the regular launches. Instead of the usual money-saving compromise, the OnePlus 7 Pro is a giant, a phone that's not only great in price, but one of the best on the market.
The announcement took place on May 1

The 7 Pro is the phone every OnePlus fan wanted. It features a curved 1440p display, a refresh rate of 90 Hz, a A + DisplayMate rating, stereo speakers, triple cameras, 4,000 mAh battery and more. This is a OnePlus phone with minimal compromises, as we have not seen since the OnePlus One.
The OnePlus 7 Pro was launched on May 14 at a launch event in several countries. Universal Flash Storage is a specification for the internal memory used on smartphones. How fast data is written and read. UFS 3.0 is the latest version and offers 2.4 times faster speed than the previous version. While Samsung has reserved this specification for the $ 1,980 Galaxy Fold, OnePlus offers this memory for all models at a fraction of the cost.

Price for everything
In recent years, there has been a pattern for OnePlus, in which was speculated in news publications about a price increase over its predecessor. Fans are angry at the price increase and hold their breath for the official announcement. OnePlus announces a price that is higher but still hundreds of dollars cheaper than the average flagship phone. And OnePlus sells more units than last year.
This year should not be any different as OnePlus sells the OnePlus 7 Pro from $ 669. This price applies to the 128 GB model with 6 GB of RAM. There is also a 256GB model with 8GB of RAM for $ 699 and a 256GB model with 12GB of RAM for $ 749.
To compare how excellent this price is, at the same cost as the Samsung Galaxy S10e, you can get the 7 Pro model with 256GB (the same amount of memory as the S10e) and 12GB of RAM (twice as much RAM like the S10e), not to mention that the 7 Pro is a much better phone than the S10e. As with the OnePlus 6T, the OnePlus 7 Pro is a popular design language for flagship smartphones, where the front and back are made of glass. However, the rear glass cover is only aesthetically pleasing, as OnePlus does not provide wireless charging here either.
The aluminum frame offers a light feel and strong protection against falls and weather conditions. In terms of color, the OnePlus 7 Pro comes in three colors: Nebula Blue, Mirror Gray and Almond.
- Frame: Glass (Back and Front), Aluminum (Center Frame)
- Finish: Fog Blue, Mirror Gray, Almond
OnePlus and T-Mobile will use their new partnership to make the number three wireless service provider in the US the exclusive home of the OnePlus 7 Pro. The only other place to buy this phone is the OnePlus website. This is the GSM unlocked version, which is also suitable for AT & T. It is also certified for use with Verizon Wireless.
Ideal for those who like rooting The OnePlus website is the place for all variations as T-Mobile again asks you to pay in full to unlock the bootloader. Even if you opt for an early withdrawal, you will have to wait 40 days after purchase to receive the token required to unlock the bootloader. And as Rooter know, Rooten is a breeze without an unlocked boot loader.
OnePlus has shown us that the 7 Pro can survive a drop of water, but it's not recommended to try it. OnePlus has done this to display the water resistance of its phone, although it has not paid for an official IP rating. OnePlus, for a company trying to minimize costs, added that adding this certification only increases the price and leads to more expensive OnePlus phones.

Software The OnePlus 7 Pro is running the latest version of Android. Cake (9,0). Because of this, users can take advantage of Google's new gesture controls. Unlike the OnePlus implementation, the Back button is retained, which makes the transition from button to gesture a little easier.
In addition, Android Pie focuses heavily on privacy. Users are better protected from malicious apps because Google now prevents them from accessing your camera or microphone in the background. There is also Private DNS, which allows you to change the DNS server for both Wi-Fi data and mobile data.
Android Pie did not seem to be a massive change on the surface thanks to minimal design changes, but brought over 40 changes to the operating system. And thanks to OnePlus software update improvements, Android 10 is expected to be available by the end of the year.
The OnePlus 7 Pro is running the latest version of Oxygen OS. This is one of the lighter skins, with most elements of Android maintained with some customization enhancements. It's a big upgrade from earlier versions of the skin. OnePlus has brought over 500 improvements ranging from improved performance to enhanced features, and the version running on OnePlus 7 Pro is even better with built-in onscreen recorder and 90 Hz app support.
The 7 Pro has a screen OnePlus fans have been shouting over the years, a 6.64-inch super-optic AMOLED display. For the first time, OnePlus has integrated a non-1080p display, which opted for a higher resolution at 3120 x 1440. You have read correctly, OnePlus finally has a 1440p display. And this display is so good that DisplayMate gave it a A + display rating, the highest that a smartphone offers. This puts it in the same category as Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Apple iPhone X S Max and Google Pixel 3 XL.
The 7 Pro has no notch. Instead, OnePlus decided to take the front-facing camera with a release mechanism out of the frame. Similar to the Samsung devices, the panel is bent to give the impression that it goes on forever.
As system-on-chips (SoCs) become more powerful, it is no longer necessary to limit frame rates to 60 Hz. Thanks to cell phones like the Razer Phone, some major mobile developers have added an unlocked frame rate that allows a game to produce as many images as the GPU can render. OnePlus 7 Pro joins the small list of phones that can benefit.
Known as Fluid AMOLED, the 7 Pro has a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It is the first phone to offer a refresh rate of 90 Hz at a resolution of 3120 x 1440 with this type of panel. Only the ASUS ROG Phone offers a higher refresh rate, but a resolution of 1080p. Oxygen OS also includes a feature that allows apps to run at a higher update rate for smoother scrolling and better gaming.
The display is also HDR10 + certified, which supports dynamic metadata for HDR content. With dynamic metadata, each frame is optimized for HDR content for better overall picture quality. OnePlus has also optimized the apps from Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video to deliver content to users on the 7 Pro HDR10 + content, which offers thousands of hours of content. This impressive display is protected by 3D Gorilla Glass.

The OnePlus 7 Pro uses the Snapdragon 855, the newest and best SoC from Qualcomm. It's the first of Qualcomm to use the 7 nm TSMC process, which makes it much more energy efficient than its predecessor.
Qualcomm is also reorganizing its cores and switching from the default big.LITTLE array to a new three-category layout. The main difference is that the gold nuclei are divided into two categories, with three cores clocked at one frequency and a core at an even higher frequency. For the Snapdragon 855, these clock rates are 2.41 GHz and 2.84 GHz, respectively.
In terms of RAM, the OnePlus 7 Pro is available in 6GB or 8GB. However, the 256GB model is also available with totally unnecessary 12GB of RAM. OnePlus also adds a feature called RAM Boost, which preloads the most commonly used apps in RAM for even faster load times.
- RAM: 6 GB, 8 GB or 12 GB RAM
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855
- Chip Size: 7 nm
- CPU Frequency: 2, 84 GHz (1x gold), 2.41 GHz (3x gold), 1.78 GHz (4x silver)
- CPU cores: 8 cores (4 gold + 4 silver)
- GPU: Adreno 640
Next to Display, SoC and RAM, another upgrade that OnePlus 7 Pro receives is better battery and charging capabilities. For the latter, it includes the new Warp Charge 30, the 30-watt version of the new OnePlus fast-charging system. The charging system was first introduced in the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition and offers even faster load times than the previous system (Dash Charge). With 10 watts of additional power, the Warp Charge 30 can charge the 7 Pro to 50% in just 20 minutes.
But OnePlus has not stopped yet. The OnePlus 7 Pro includes a 4,000 mAh battery for the first time. Oxygen OS already has a fairly dynamic memory management system to save battery life. Combined with such a large capacity, we expect this phone to last at least 1.5 days, even for those who use their phones frequently.
- Battery: Rechargeable Lithium Ion
- Capacity: 4,000 mAh
- Wired Charging: Yes, Warp Charge 30 (5 V / 6 A)
- Wireless Charging: no Front Camera
On the OnePlus 7 Pro, the front-facing camera is not visible. Instead, if necessary, it will be lifted out of the frame. When you finish, the camera returns to the unseen frame. The change has two major advantages:
First, the hidden camera clears the display to create a continuous design for a full-screen front. Second, it provides comfort for privacy conscious people. Instead of having your camera always pointing at you and having to trust the software to protect you from background surveillance, you're now physically protected because the camera is safely stowed away when not in use.
Although it's a motorized part, it holds nearly 50 pounds of power. OnePlus performed a stress test for 12 hours, demonstrating that the front camera could be raised and retracted more than 11,600 times without error. It is designed for 300,000 slides, which is more than most that will work for the life of the phone.

Another upgrade is the reversing camera. The new trend feature of the 7 Pro are triple cameras, three reversing cameras, a 48-MP lens, a 16-MP ultra-wide lens and an 8-MP telephoto lens. Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) can only be found on the standard lens.
A rare feature is that the telephoto lens offers a 3x optical zoom. Unlike previous OnePlus models, which require twice the optical zoom but 1.6x the crop, the 7 Pro has a true 3x zoom. With the 3x optical zoom OnePlus can be found in rare cases. Only the Huawei series P20 Pro, Mate 20 Pro and P30 offer an optical zoom that is more than double.
Nightscape has been updated to 2.0, which enhances the camera's ability to make low settings with light shots. There is also a feature called Ultrashot, which uses machine learning for intelligent HDR. In addition, pixel bonding (which combines adjacent pixels) is used to improve performance in low light conditions. Finally, there is a new multi-autofocus that uses PDAF, CAF and Laser AF to focus your subject as fast as possible.
