Everything you need to know about the OnePlus 7T – the first OnePlus with price reduction «Android :: Gadget Hacks

OnePlus, whose phones always strive for the best value for money, releases two main devices each year. There is the primary flagship in late spring, then an iterative update with the suffix "T" in the fall. Normally, there is not much difference between the two, but this year OnePlus mixes the formula a bit.

The biggest change came with the spring cycle when OnePlus released the 7 Pro in the US. In other countries, a slimmed-down version was simply referred to as OnePlus 7. However, that changes with the fall release: In the US, only the OnePlus 7T is offered, not the potential 7T Pro we envisioned. So it's an iterative update to a lower-priced model we did not even get ̵

1; and still a great phone for itself.

OnePlus 7T Highlights

Important data

OnePlus announced the OnePlus 7T on September 26, 2019. It was announced via a livestream, which started at 10:30 EDT.

The phone will be available to the public from October 18, 2019. No pre-order dates have been announced. However, OnePlus promised that users will be able to purchase the phone early at the T-Mobile Signature Store in New York City. Date and time details will be published later.

  • Release Date: October 18, 2019
  • Pre-Order Date: N / A
  • Announced: September 26, 2019 (10:00 EDT)

Memory Capacity

The 7T will only available in one storage option, namely 128 GB. While this is not very much (especially without a microSD card), it should be noted that this is UFS 3.0 memory. UFS 3.0 uses two read and write tracks and offers more bandwidth than the previous standard, which makes file saving and app loading faster.

  • Available Memory: 128 GB
  • Expandable Memory: No

Price for Everything

This is probably the most important information for most OnePlus users and you will be spoiled , For the first time OnePlus lowers the price. Right, the OnePlus 7T starts at $ 599, $ 70 less than the 7 Pro. Honestly, this price decline makes sense, since the 7 Pro overall is still a better phone.

Case

The OnePlus 7T has a similar design to its predecessor with aluminum on the edges and glass on both sides. It will be available in two colors, Glacier Blue and Frosted Silver. The back glass is a frosted frosted material with a nice texture that makes it less slippery, but it's still prone to fingerprints. It also has an improved vibration motor that is more accurate and easier to feel.

  • Frame: Aluminum
  • Finish: Haze Blue, Frosted Silver

Basics

The 7T is a smaller phone than the 7 Pro thanks to the smaller screen. Thanks to the smaller battery, it is also a thinner phone. This may be the OnePlus phone of choice for those who are struggling with the size and thickness of the 7 Pro.

For mobile operators, T-Mobile will be the exclusive mobile operator of the 7T. OnePlus will resell the unlocked GSM version on its website, which can be used in T-Mobile, AT & T and Verizon networks.

Software

It is not surprising that running on the OnePlus 7T Android 10 box. OnePlus just released the latest version of Android for OnePlus 7 Pro just a few days before the announcement of OnePlus 7 Pro.

OnePlus 7T users gain access to over 60 new changes, including redesigned gesture control in full-screen mode The first phone to ship with the new operating system version.

Skin

The latest version of Oxygen OS 10.0 is running on the 7T. Although the software will not be debuted (since it's already running on the 7 Pro), it will be the first OnePlus phone to run it immediately. As usual, OnePlus will enhance Standard Android with optimizations and faster animations.

One enhancement is Game Space, a dedicated area for accessing your entire game and fine-tuning the experience. The ambient display can now display information based on specific times, locations, and events. The gestures in full-screen mode have been improved (which are already among the best) to allow for inward swiping and easy switching between current apps with a new bottom navigation bar.

Display

The OnePlus 7T has an almost identical display as the 7 Pro with one exception: it's only 1080p. You will still receive the 90 Hz refresh rate and HDR10 + certification. The maximum brightness has also been increased to 1,000 nits, 200 nits less than the industry-leading display of the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

A nice upgrade (for some) is the return of a flat screen. While the curved display provides an even more immersive experience, giving the impression that the screen never ends (at least not on the side), it is vulnerable to accidental touch. That's no problem with the 7T.

The 7T returns the notch. It's the same teardrop from the 6T (or 7 from overseas), so minimal, but it's still there, whether it's good or bad. The display is TÜV certified to reduce blue light, reducing your eyesight, especially at night.

Performance

The OnePlus 7T is shipped with 8 GB of RAM – more than enough memory for r games and multitasking. It also comes with RAM boost technology, a feature that rejects the RAM usage of other apps for a smoother gaming experience.

The 7T uses the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+. This is not a big upgrade of the Snapdragon 855 from 7 Pro, but it stands out. The 855+ is an overclocked 855, with the highest gold core clocked at 2.94 GHz instead of 2.84 GHz. The biggest change is the 15% increase in GPU frequency that is helpful in games, especially when games support non-locked frame rates, so they reach 90 fps if supported by the GPU. With all this power comes PUBG Mobile with 60 fps on the small list of Android phones that support this feature.

  • Memory: 8 GB
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+
  • Chip Size: 7 nm
  • CPU Frequency: 2.94 GHz (single gold core) + 2.42 GHz (3 gold nuclei) + 1.8 GHz (4 silver nuclei)
  • CPU cores: 8 cores (1 gold + 3 gold + 4 silver)
  • GPU: Adreno 640 (672 MHz)
  • GPU cores: Unknown

Battery

The OnePlus 7T has an impressive battery size at 3,800 mAh. Thanks to the battery management improvements of Android 10 combined with the energy efficiency of the Snapdragon 855+ and OxygenOS 10.0, the battery lasts all day and a few more.

The already fast warp batch has also been updated. Known as the Warp Charge 30T, the OnePlus 7T can charge 100% in one hour, 23% faster than the previous fast-charging system. There will be no support for wireless charging.

  • Battery: Rechargeable Li-ion Battery
  • Capacity: 3,800 mAh

front camera

The front camera for both models is the same as 7 Pro. It is a standard 16 MP lens that is now housed in a recess for the display. It supports HDR and EIS and is used for Onesecus' insecure (but extremely fast) face unlock.

Rear view camera

The hardware for 7T is the same as for 7 Pro. The same triple camera is used: a telephoto, an ultra wide and a wide angle camera. The wide angle is the Sony IMX586, which is the same image sensor on many flagships this year, including the 7 Pro. The primary lens uses quad-pixels, that is, four adjacent pixels are combined into one pixel for a 1/4 resolution image, which performs better in low-light situations.

The 7T has one major and one minor change. The main difference is the new design. Instead of three vertically aligned cameras, they are mirrored horizontally. The lenses are still arranged in a line, but they are housed in a circular unit.

As for the slight change, the telephoto lens is now 12 MP. The additional resolution should have a positive effect on the picture quality. However, the image processing and the sensor are also important. Unlike the 7 Pro, it only has 2x optical zoom.

But the big changes affect the software. There will be a new macro mode that will allow you to take photos up to 0.98 inches away. There is also a new Hybrid Image Stabilizer that uses both OIS and EIS for maximum stability. This system should work similar to the Pixel 3 and help with moving objects, shaking hands and low light conditions. Finally, Nightscape was improved for brighter night shots without overexposure.

  • Resolution: 48 MP (primary); 16 MP (ultra wide angle); 12 MP (Tele)
  • Sensor: Sony IMX586 (primary)
  • Sensor Size: 1/2 inch (primary)

The video software has also been updated. You can now record videos with all three lenses interchangeably. And thanks to EIS, the entire video is stabilized. It will also be able to record up to 960 fps at 720p for super slow motion, but this will be published in an OTA after the phone's release.

  • Resolution: 720p, 1080p and 4K (2160p) [19659010] Max. Frame rate: 4K at 30/60 fps; 1080p at 30/60 fps; 720p at 60 fps

At the moment, it looks like both models have the same connectivity as the 7 Pro with 802.11ac (Wi -Fi 5)) for wireless internet. However, this could be upgraded as the Qualcomm Snapdragon supports 855+ Wi-Fi 6, but so far, nothing has indicated this change.

    • Wi-Fi: 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac Cat13 2×2 MIMO
    • Modem: Cat18 / UL Cat13 (1.2 Gb / s / 150 Mbps) 4 × 4 MIMO

    • Fingerprint Scanner: Yes, Optical In-Display
    • Face Scanner: No
    • Iris Scanner: no
    • Manual Authentication: Password, PIN, Pattern, Draft

    Scope of delivery

The packaging contains the 7T, the power supply, a compatible USB-C cable and the documentation. There is a housing and a pre-installed screen protector. However, we recommend updating the case. We also recommend purchasing a faster cable that uses the USB 3.1 Gen 1 data port, as the included cable is USB 2.0. Anker Powerline is a great option.
