VR or virtual reality, once a cornerstone of military or medical education or flight simulation, enters the mainstream. VR is an interactive, computer-generated experience in a simulated environment that is communicated via a VR headset. It is most commonly used in entertainment applications such as games and 3D cinema, research into the use of VR for alleviating dementia symptoms or helping to promise memory.
In August, Senior Planet's Tech of the Month series features Virtual Reality. Harold Goldberg, founder of the New York Video Critics Circle and the New York Game Awards, will visit Chelsea's Senior Planet Exploration Center to give senior planet members a two-day virtual reality workshop with three devices in store for them.
