Facebook seeks AR talent, Snapchat diversifies AR content and Magic Leap results more telecoms financing «Next Reality



As much money as Magic Leap has secured, another round of funding will still make headlines. The recent financing, however, strengthens the company's strategy to succeed in the consumer segment of AR.

Meanwhile, Facebook seems to be stepping up its efforts to launch its own AR, as the company's Oculus subsidiary has several AR-centric openings at the moment.

Finally, Snapchat and Google demonstrated their broad range of AR skills, with the former showing a new page in content, and the latter expanding its AR toolkit and multiplayer capabilities.

Magic Leap Receives $ 280 Million to Finance NTT DoCoMO from Japan

Magic Leap's business strategy of bringing Augmented Reality into mainstream has become even more apparent with the recent round of financing.

On Friday, the company announced that it has received $ 280 million in funding from NTT Docomo, the largest mobile operator in Japan.

Facebook boosts its AR product team

At its F8 developer conference in 2016, Facebook posted a roadmap that required augmented reality integration in Oculus within 10 years. Now it seems Facebook is accelerating these plans.

Based on recent job openings, Facebook's Oculus subsidiary is looking for a product design prototype for AR experiences and a product designer for the AR platform. Both posts begin with the same boilerplate to convince the contestants to join the team that will "define wearable AR experiences for Facebook."
