Ten candidates have qualified for the fifth debate:

- Mayor Pete Buttigieg from South Bend, Indiana
- Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii

In this debate, two candidates are less on stage than in the last. Former Housing Secretary Julián Castro failed to qualify this time and former Texas Congressman Beto O & Rourke dropped out of the race. Former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has just announced that he is running for the presidency but is too late to qualify for the debate.
