First App for Meta 2 Headset Enables 3D CAD Models in Augmented Reality «Meta 2 :: Next Reality

Augmented reality headsets maker Meta Company unveiled its first software Meta Viewer at Augmented World Expo in Santa Clara on Wednesday

Meta Viewer enables Meta-2 users to use 3D CAD augmented reality models consider preserving the integrity of design information that can be lost when converting files to AR formats.

Augmented World Expo Twitter [19659005] Joe Mikhail, Meta's Chief Revenue Officer, demonstrated during his presentation "Raise Storytelling in AR", the new app and a preview of the future Voice Command and Collaboration capabilities of Meta 2.

"The Meta 2 headset and Meta Viewer beta combination provides our customers with the most complete real-time experience -Visualization and interaction with 3D designs and models, "said Mikhail in a statement. "Using these products dramatically shortens the product development cycle by reducing costs and saving time through quick and easy collaboration, resulting in faster time to market and lower cost of customer acquisition."

Users can move the models through hand gestures using various 3D model file formats such as KITGON GITF 2.0, SOLIDWORKS GITF and others , rotate and scale. With SolidWorks format, Meta Viewer can also render animated models, including exploded views and motion, view various design states, enable changes in material, color, and device configurations, and scale to real dimensions.

Becoming a Meta 2 user The Meta Viewer beta app can be downloaded from the Meta website this week.

The app is primarily aimed at office workers outside the IT department and is designed to be easy to use. technical staff. Meta Viewer is especially beneficial for designers and engineers who require CAD files as well as spreadsheets for accountants. Salespeople can also use the app to show designs to potential customers, while decision makers review and approve building and product designs.

Previously, Meta partnered with Dassault Systèmes to provide Meta2 support for Solidworks 3D CAD software. "Supporting 3D CAD viewing is important to our customers and to the growth of the AR market," Mikhail said in a statement.

With new technologies, hardware and software vendors often need to provide their customers with real-world examples of how the technology can benefit them. Microsoft recently released a pair of HoloLens apps to show companies how their Augmented Reality headset can improve employee productivity. Google has released its Just a Line AR experiment to showcase the ARCore features, including the new cross-platform Cloud Anchors service.

Meta's goal with Meta Viewer is to help companies improve their business processes by shortening the design cycle and thereby reducing operations costs. The app allows you to quickly and easily share designs that are normally displayed only in the physical production phase. Such a benefit contributes to Meta's goal to replace conventional desktop displays with augmented reality headsets.
