Winter is supposed to come, but for Game of Thrones fans, the wait may seem everlasting. Season 7 ended in August 2017 with dragons and white walkers and, um, a little ignorant incest. And fans who are impatiently waiting for a solution can not even console themselves with a new George RR Martin book in the saga, because.
But those of us who have to live In the world of tax periods and oral surgery and performance appraisals, you could certainly use a fantasy escape back to the land of castles and the conflagration and Tyrion's one-liners. So, while we wait, here's a guide to the final season of HBO's blockbuster fantasy hit. Hold the door tight!
We will update this story as new information becomes public.
Release Date, Episodes, and Timing
So, what remains to be seen? The final season is Season 8, and HBO has confirmed that it will come sometime in 201
Showrunner David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, as well as David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik, will direct episodes, and Benioff, Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill will write the scripts. As the fans probably know, the TV show has turned from Martin's books, because a new book has not been published since 2011.
To watch the new season, whenever it finally falls, you need a subscription to HBO (or a friend with one), but if you do not have a cable, you can pay for HBO Well, a streaming subscription version from HBO, which does not require a regular cable subscription (or even a TV). Meet the cast
The great actors who have survived to this point will be back (with one exception: Elliara Sand, who is believed to still rape the body of daughter Tyene in Cerseis dungeon)
The Lannister children, Tyrion (Dinklage), Queen Cersei (Headey) and Jaime (Coster-Waldau), still survived, even though Tyrion and Cersei attack each other and Jaime seems to be trapped in the middle. Does Cersei lie to her brother / lover that they are pregnant with their fourth child, now that the other three have died? Maybe even.
As for House Stark, Father Ned (Sean Bean) lost his head and mother Catelyn (Michelle Fairley) and brothers Robb (Richard Madden) and Rickon (Art Parkinson, who
Life for Sansa and the other tough kids was anything but easy.
Daenary's Targaryen (Clarke) seems to have found love with Jon Snow – too bad that she is his aunt (Targaryens never really minded that, tbh). She also works with Tyrion, and her faithful entourage includes Eunuch Gray Worm (Anderson), Missandei (Emmanuel) and Jorah Mormont (Glen).
Jon Snow friend Samwell Tarly (Bradley West) and his partner Gilly (19659005) Also Brienne of Tarth (Christie), her would-be lover Tormund Riesenbann (Hivju), Davos, come back to Seaworth (Cunningham) , Sandor "The Dog" Clegane and his creepy zombie brother Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane, Arya's pal Gendry, mysterious priestess Melisandre, tortured Theon Greyjoy (Allen) and his evil uncle Euron (Asbæk).
Not much is known about new characters joining the show in its final season. But after the first-rate Game of Thrones Wikia, actor Marc Rissmann will hire Harry Strickland, commander of the Golden Company, to hire an army. Other new characters we do not know much about are Fergus (played by Seamus O'Hara), Willa (Alice Nokes) and Sarra (Danielle Galligan).
What we know about the plot
Get ready for a serious action and be ready to lose some important characters. An HBO board has made the final seasonand described the actors "one after the other … thrown to their deaths".
Star Maisie Williams knows how the show ends, and she'smaybe you can bribe her to think about it. Nor did she buy HBO President Casey Bloys, who announced that the show to fool inquisitive people on set who might lick big news. "I immediately thought, & # 39; I do not think we have the budget to shoot many different endings," she told Jimmy Kimmel.
Might be a young generation of Northern Leaders led by young Lyanna Mormont (Bella Ramsey), Alys Karstad (Megan Parkinson) and Ned Umber (Harry Grasby) prepare for a strong presence last season because.
Will the Dragon's Tomb reappear? The fan site Winter is Coming reports on April 2 that the show is preparing for a ruined Roman amphitheater in the ancient Spanish city of Italica, which served as a dragon lair for a major scene in Season 7. It could be the linchpin for Serve a dragon drama or just a nice huge open hangout for a battle or other confrontation.
Gendry is finally ready and ready for action. Actor Joe Dempsie, who plays Robert Baratheon's secret son Gendry told Digital Spy that he had filmed "a fair bit" of it last season, but intelligently would not reveal whether he survived until the very last episode. However, fans due to his descent expect great things from the young blacksmith with royal blood.
Will the last season be more flashbacks with Rhaegar Targaryen, father of you-know-who ()? The actor who plays him posted a photo of himself on May 2 in front of a Belfast hotel where the show is being filmed, and fans have made fun of speculation. He deleted it, but you can see it here and really, fans would like to see a little more of his doomed relationship with Ned's sister Lyanna Stark.
Another rumor, courtesy of Watchers on the Wall, claims Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) and Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) have filmed a scene in which they fight each other again, presumably against the undead. This is a beautiful, juicy scene to look forward to for those who send the ready-to-fight couple – but what does that mean for the poor Tormund?
What's up with the GOT spin-offs?
George RR Martin not I want to call them spinoffs, but HBO is working on up to five "follow-up shows" taking place in the Game of Thrones universe. Martin said that fansas all new shows will take place before the time shown in Game of Thrones. It is not yet known if all, or how many, of the shows will actually blow up.
With the exception ofsome may not even be put on Westeros. [An Essos story would certainly be fresh.]
But we know what is not covered: no Robert's rebellion and no Dunk and Egg. Robert's rebellion refers to Ned Stark, Robert Baratheon and Jon Arryn's rebellion against House Targaryen, and Dunk and Egg are other Martin characters, a hedge knight and his squire, who have their own stories a century before the current books. "Martin said that if he wrote all his stories about Dunk and Egg, he would love them if they had one Show, and that Robert's rebellion in the current book series will be explained if (if …) he is done.
