The business card of Nokia was once camera quality, a small bright spot compared to the black hole of Windows Mobile. Since Microsoft discontinued its seldom-used operating system, Nokia phones have begun to run Android – and now they are returning to their camera-based roots with their pro-camera mode. You can also experience your camera app on any Android phone.
Thanks to the developer LinuxCT (who ported the Pixel Launcher to all Android phones), you can also use Nokia's Pro-Camera mode on any Android device with Nokia's Camera app. To install it, you have to sideload it, which can be a difficult process for those of you who have never dealt with it before. Luckily for you, every step on the way to a better camera app is described here.
Tap the download link below to install the Nokia Camera app (or use this mirror). When prompted, tap OK. The download will appear in your notification shade. After downloading, tap the file in your notification bar to open it. Tap "Install" to finish installing the app.
If you're having trouble downloading the APK, long-press the download link above and select "Download link" from the pop-up window. 19659007] Step 2: Grant permissions
When you first open the Nokia Camera app, you are prompted to grant permissions such as "Camera," "Location," "Microphone," and others. You may have inadvertently not granted some of these permissions. To be sure, go to your phone's settings, then to "Apps" and select Nokia "Camera" (the icon is the one with the blue background). From there, scroll down to "Permissions" and tap it. Make sure you grant all permissions by tapping on them.
Start the Camera app first. Start Pro mode by swiping up on the circle in the lower center of the screen (the circle is also how you take pictures). A semicircle will appear on the screen indicating that you have entered Pro mode. You can then optimize White Balance, Focus Mode, ISO, Shutter Speed, and Exposure Compensation. To exit the Pro mode, swipe the circle.
Now you're ready to take pictures like a pro, even though you're not Nokia phone have. While this app does not solve all the problems of your camera when you're on an older device, it should at least incrementally and stylishly enhance the camera of each cell phone.
