Action Launcher has some exclusive features that add real value to your overall experience. One such feature is Shutters, and like most Android aspects, there is a workaround that allows you to enjoy this functionality on other startup programs.
Shutters help save homescreen homes by eliminating widgets without losing information. Instead of adding the widget to your home screen, you can access widgets by swiping the icon. The swipe activates shutters, which causes the widget to pop up over the icon. Once you have the information you need, you can swipe the icon again to hide the widget.
Unfortunately, this feature is not available by default for Nova Launcher. With an app and some enhancements using Nova Launcher's built-in tools, you can perfectly reproduce this feature without sacrificing what we consider to be the best Android home screen launcher.

Step 1: Download Popup Widget 3
To get started, you need the help of Popup Widget 3, which costs $ 1.99. While we generally only recommend free apps, we could not find any that perform this feature as effectively as Popup Widgets 3.
If it's a comfort, you can get an instant refund in the Play Store if you request one of them two Hours of purchase. If you try that out and decide it's not worth it, you can get your money back. Additionally, within 48 hours, you will receive a refund from the developers, but after the first two hours, there is no guarantee.
Step 2: Create a Shutter
Open Popup Widget 3 in your app drawer. From there, select the Floating Action button (the plus sign at the bottom of the screen) and select an app from the list. Only apps with widgets appear in this list.
If multiple widgets are available for the app, the number of options will be displayed in the upper-right corner of the app icon. If you select such an app, another page appears with all available widget options.
On the new page (titled Configure Widget ) there are a number of options that you can use to interact with the widget. In our example, we will ignore these options and leave them at their default values. However, you are welcome to tinker with the settings to customize the look of your widget. Select the Back button to save the new shutter and return to the main page, which now displays the name of the widget.
While the app allows you to create an icon using the shutter function, it does not work in the same way as the Action Launcher feature. In particular, the icon will not launch the app if you tap it normally. This is where the customization options of Nova Launcher come into play.
If you have not already done so, add the icon corresponding to the shutter created in Popup Widget 3 to your Home screen. Long press on the icon until a submenu is displayed and select the pencil icon in the upper right corner:
A pop-up window titled Edit Shortcut is displayed. Select "None" under the grouping Swipe action . Navigate to the Shortcuts tab on the new page and select "Popup Widget". You will return the main page of the app. Select the shutter you just created, and return to the pop-up menu Edit Link where the name of the app replaces "None". Select Done to return to the Home screen.
If you did it right, you should be able to swipe over the icon to open the widget – just like Action Launcher does. You can interact with the widget as usual, even if you remove the widget with a horizontal swipe. You can also swipe in any direction on the icon to hide the widget.
Besides, like the Action Launcher feature, selecting the icon will launch the app.
While we wish we could find a free app to accomplish this feature, Popup Widget 3 is one of the most effective ways to get this functionality in Nova Launcher. Not only can you launch the widget in a popup, it also offers a variety of customization features to change the look of the widget. How do you like your new popup widget?
