Google recently announced that Google Maps is returning to watchOS after disappearing from the platform in 201
Once you’ve selected a destination using the Google Maps app on your iPhone, your Apple Watch will display an ETA and turn-by-turn directions. You can scroll through the list of driving directions on your Apple Watch or change your travel mode from driving to walking, cycling, or using public transit.
However, unlike Apple Maps, the Google Maps for watchOS app cannot display the current map. You can’t program destinations from Apple Watch, and the wearable app will only work when your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone.
Still, Google got off to a good start. Maps on Apple Watch provide everything the average user needs for driving or walking around town, including a haptic warning system for incoming turns. The missing features may only be of concern to people who regularly run, run, or ride a bike without wearing their iPhone.
