Google Maps shows you how fast you drive. Here is how

If you have not seen it yet, Google has started to implement its new tachometer feature on Google Maps. Google has already added speed limit indicators and speed camera warnings, but the speedometer is another big step forward. Yes, of course, your car already has one, but the idea is to see at a glance how fast you drive, if you're already looking for the way in the app ̵

1; and look at the road instead of between the app and your dashboard to jump back and forth.

Google introduces the speedometer in Google Maps and will be available worldwide in the coming weeks. So you may need to be patient if you do not already have it (we do not). You can check the Maps app settings to see if you have them. We also explain how to report a speed camera and an incident such as a traffic jam.

How to enable all three latest features.

Turn on speedometer

1. Open your Google Maps app.

2. Tap the three stacked lines and scroll to the bottom of the screen.

3. Select Settings .

4. Tap Navigation Settings .

5. Scroll to the menu Driving Options and slide the switch for the Speedometer . If you do not see this option, you probably do not have this new feature yet.

Report Radar

1. Open your Google Maps app.

2. Enter your destination to begin navigation. You can only report the speed cameras when you are in navigation mode.

3. Tap the balloon icon with the plus sign.

4. Select Mobile Radar Camera .

5. A pop-up message titled "Adding a Mobile Radar Camera to the Map" appears.

6. If you did not want to report anything, you have a few seconds to cancel by tapping the circle labeled Undo .

Report an incident such as a car accident or a traffic jam.

. 1 Open your Google Maps app.

2. Enter your destination to begin navigation. You can report incidents only when you are in navigation mode.

3. If you are on the road and see a wreck or a slowdown, tap the balloon icon with the plus sign.

4. Tap Add report .

5. Select Crash or Deceleration . The message "Add [crash, slowdown] to the card" appears. You can click Undo if you do not want to send it.
