Google Stadia vs. Apple Arcade Games: Everything we know

Arcade brings more than 100 games to your Apple devices.

Google

It's Autumn, which means we can start playing on Apple Arcade and soon on Google Stadia and no longer wonder how the two services compare , We have our first jump at Apple Arcade game subscription service, available immediately for iOS 1

3 MacOS Catalina and Apple TV . and lets players download and play more than 100 games exclusively for the service on their Apple devices.

On Nov. 19 Google Stadia players can start streaming games when they sign up for Stadia Premiere Edition or Founder's Edition . The service of Google works much like Netflix, where you stream games to your devices. Google's data center handles all processing.

For both Apple and Google, a game service is a new frontier that further enhances the wild popularity of gaming applications. The high bandwidth provided by faster WLAN and the upcoming 5G networks offers the potential to enable streaming games with advanced graphics and very little delay. Developing the zeitgeist of gaming also opens up more revenue streams, giving Apple and Google the opportunity to earn subscription fees.

Sonic Racing by Sega on Arcade.

Apple

Especially for Apple, getting into gaming is part of a bigger effort in providing hardware-related services. The game service, the video streaming platform and even Apple Music are compelling reasons to keep the Apple world loyal and use an Apple device. Google is about the cloud, and the game platform shows its strengths. So players can participate in cloud-based games and then share the gameplay via YouTube.

While we have as many questions as answers to which service is right for your style of play and offers you more for your money, we know (and do not know) what we do with the gaming platforms.

To launch the pump, Google offered the Stadia Founder's Edition, a limited edition $ 130 package that will allow you to access the service in November. A limited edition controller, a Chromecast Ultra streaming device, three months of Stadia Pro, a three-month buddy pass that lets you have someone to play with, and the first attempt to claim your Stadia name. The Founder's Edition is sold out, but you can still grab a similar bundle, the $ 140 Premiere Edition to play in November.

We do not know what happens to games where you buy discount with a Stadia Pro account when you switch to a Stadia Base account. And we do not know what happens if you own a game on another service and want to play it on Stadia.

Stadiums or Arcades: What service is there for you?

It still feels a bit early to delve into the pros and cons. However, if you like console games and have a good internet connection, Stadia may fit in well with its controller-driven service. If you're a casual, interested in indie games, or want an affordable plan for a family of players, Apple's approach may be a better choice.
