When Google introduced Call Screen for pixel phones, the company emphasized its live transcription capabilities.
What the company did not say was that you can actually hear the tone of the monitored call, as described in this reddit post.
Right: You can hear that the person at the other end of the call is getting frustrated and confused because a Google robot is talking to them.
To listen to the caller, either hold the phone to your ear and listen as if you were on the phone, or press the volume key on the side of the phone to activate the handsfree.
I have confirmed that both methods work, and I honestly wish I had heard about this feature when it was introduced in October.
XDA Developers has discovered that Google is working to add a button to the call screen interface that will enable hands-free calling, making the feature a bit more obvious.
