Hey, Google, let's go: How to use the new Assistant Driving Mode for Android phones

Google

Your car has not Android Auto ? No big deal. Google makes it easier for you to navigate and stay connected with your voice ̵

Assistant Driving Mode is a redesigned dashboard that brings navigation, messaging, calls, and your media players all the way to the front and center. This is most useful when the handset is in a dashboard dock, but this is not required to use the Assistant Drive Mode.

To start just say "Hey google, let's go." When you hear these wake-up words, the wizard opens the driver's navigation view. This is related to your calendar, music and missed calls, and of course, maps. Let's say you leave the office to meet a friend for dinner. The wizard drive mode may provide the opportunity to navigate you there or to the location of the next calendar item.

If you have missed a call, it may be advisable to call back while driving – all hands-free. You can resume a podcast you just started from home without being automatically activated.

In most cases, you focus on the map that the driving mode holds at the top of your phone screen. A small music player can be located on the bottom. When a call comes in, it will appear at the bottom of the screen so you can keep an eye on the card.

The assistant drive mode is now only started by the voice activation word. Finally, Google says you can bring the dashboard up in Google Maps and Waze.

The Assistant Driving Mode will be released later this year on Assistant-enabled Android phones in the US.
