Although GIFs are over 30 years old, more than ever, GIFs are used by people to express themselves on their phone or computer, especially through social media. Let's get that out of the way. The word is called G-I-F and stands for graphic interface format. The makers of the GIF pronounce it like Jif peanut butter. But many (many) people say GIF with a hard G. Technically, both are accepted ways to express it, but be prepared: people can be quite passionate about their chosen pronunciations. PLEASE Can anyone help me, once and for all, to clarify the biggest issue I am currently dealing with? A question that we all deal with daily. A question that defines America in 201

It's pretty easy to find GIFs to post, but it is There are dozens of ways in which you can create a GIF on your phone or computer without using Photoshop.
If you want to follow step-by-step how to create GIFs, look at this Video above in the article on CNET's YouTube channel
Turn a video into an online GIF.
Many sites specialize in turning a video or series of photos into a GIF. However, I go to Ezgif. I think it's straightforward and it works on either a phone or a computer. To turn a video file into a GIF, go to ezgif.com.
At the top of the site are some tools that you can use to create a GIF or modify an existing one. Click the Video to GIF button and then the Choose File button to select the desired video. Then click on the blue symbol . Upload Video . You can track the progress of your upload at the bottom of your browser window. Once this is done, a playback window will be displayed with your video.
Now you can adjust the length, resolution, and frame rate. All this affects the file size of your GIF. If you do not want to make any changes, click Convert to GIF and enjoy the animation of the patient cat while your video is converted to a GIF. If you are satisfied with your GIF, press Save . And you are done. Seriously, it's that easy.
However, if you want to take your GIF to the next level, you can go back to the playback window and edit the duration. Watch for a short and sweet moment between 2 and 4 seconds. While playing your video, you can use the blue buttons Use current position below the video player to select the start and end times. Pay attention to the file size on a GIF between 5 and 7 megabytes.
Next, you can customize your GIF: crop, resize, rotate and add effects. I like that because you can change the color and background, and add filters, overlays and text. When you are satisfied with the results, press Save and you now have a GIF.
I like Ezgif very much, but depending on the phone, there are a few other ways to create a GIF.
Giphy app for iOS and Android
Apple's App Store and Google Play Store have dozens of apps that can turn a video into a GIF. However, I prefer Giphy. You can create a GIF and publish it publicly so others can use it and share it (if you want to).
To start, open the app and tap the plus sign below. You can record a video from scratch or use an existing one on your phone.
Next is a live preview of your GIF where you can crop, add text, effects, or stickers. When you're done, tap the purple arrow. Once the GIF is created, you can upload it to Giphy so anyone can use it, or tap Share GIF to save it to your phone or send it to a friend.
Integrated GIF Maker for Samsung Galaxy Phones
If you have a Samsung Galaxy phone with aor newer version, you can create a GIF from the Edge panel. Basically, there is a tool in the Edge panel that lets you create a GIF from any screen.
For example, on thego to Settings to turn on the Edge control panel. There are a number of panel topics to choose from. Select the name Smart Select.
To capture a GIF of the screen content, open the Edges panel by slowly moving your finger from the right edge to the left. The first attempt to open the Edge Panel required some experimentation. When it's open, tap the GIF icon. A GIF Capture window appears as an overlay. Whatever is in the window becomes your GIF. You can change the size of the recording window and move it. When you're done, tap the record button.
I should note that you can not navigate in your phone while recording the screen. If you have what you want, press Stop. You can share your GIF immediately or save it in your gallery.
iPhone live photos are not GIFs, but shortcuts can create a GIF. Also, do not be fooled by Apple's Live Photos Looped animation option in the Photos app: It will create a video file, not an actual GIF.
However, provides a number of ways to build GIFs. To start, download and open the shortcuts. At the bottom right, tap the gallery button. The gallery contains thousands of ready-made shortcuts that you can install to perform various tasks on your phone. You can search for the word GIF or just scroll to the section with the GIF shortcuts.
The link you are looking for is Video To GIF. It has a blue rectangle symbol. Just tap to install it. You can access this shortcut (and any shortcuts you have installed) from the Share menu or from the shortcut app on the Library tab.
To create a GIF, tap Video To Gif and select a video (though it's called an image). You can then crop the video, although unfortunately it is not possible to add stickers or text. When you're done, click Save.
Now the GIF is displayed on your screen but not saved. Click the Share button at the top right corner of the screen to save your GIF in Photos, or send it directly to a friend.
