Group FaceTime calls were once something Apple fans could only dream of. With the launch of iOS 12.1, you can now make group calls with up to 32 people and yes, you can chat with your memoji.
iOS 12.1 is now available for iOS devices. If you have not yet upgraded, go to Settings> General> Software Update and download the new software.
Once you have iOS 12.1 installed, you can make these group FaceTime calls. How to use the new feature.
Through the FaceTime App

Open the FaceTime app on your iOS device and then tap + in the top right corner. Search and add who you want to call, and then tap the green audio or video button at the bottom.
Using the Messages app
It was always possible to call people through FaceTime in the Messages app, but only in private conversation threads. Group messaging threads can now call everyone in the group conversation. But instead of calling everyone automatically, FaceTime sends a message to the group that has a button for the call. How it works:

- In a group conversation thread, tap the section at the top of the screen with the names and photos of the contacts.
- A drop-down menu contains three options: Audio, FaceTime, and Info. Touch FaceTime .
- A FaceTime group call opens on your device with wildcards for each person in the group chat.

In the message thread itself, other participants see a message informing them that a FaceTime call has started with a button to join the call. The message also includes the number of people who are active in the call. If someone has to leave the call, the button to be connected remains active as long as the call is active.
