Shoes are not forever durable and sports shoes are exposed to even more wear than your normal pair. But how often should you change your hiking boots and how do you know when it's time to go?
Why should you exchange them?
Even if your hiking boots look okay, they could be worn. And if you carry them beyond the lifespan, the risk of injury increases.
The support in your shoes may slacken and they may lose shock absorption. These problems are not always visible, but can cause foot pain.
If you continue to wear worn-out shoes, shininess or neck and back pain may occur.
How To Determine When Your Shoes Are Worn
It may not be obvious when your hiking boots are worn out. You have to look at more than is easy to see. You have to look inward and outward.
Over time, all shoes show signs of wear. Here are some things you can check to make sure they are still in good condition:
- How They Feel: If your shoes are not as comfortable as they used to be, it's probably time to buy a new pair. You may find that they do not have that much support or that your feet hurt for a short time when you wear them.
- How do they fit: Do your feet slide around? Laxity can be a sign that your shoes are broken inside ̵
- Look at her: Is the outsole visibly worn? Depending on the step, the heel or another part of the sole may be worn. If there are worn out areas on the sole, these can affect the step by step, which eventually leads to leg pain.
