The music sticker is one of the best features of Instagram. It lets you add music directly to your story and add a high quality soundtrack to your favorite moments. On June 6, Instagram leveraged the feature for this feature and introduced live song lyrics that are replayed throughout your story. Karaoke, anyone?
Although this feature is not available for all songs in the Instagram library, you will not have a problem finding a song that works with lyrics. Once you've done that, you'll see how fun it is to watch the words flow with your chosen song. Just keep in mind that this feature does not work when using the "Music" option before filming your story. You must first record your story and then select the music sticker from the Sticker Gallery.
If you've used the music sticker before, you can add song lyrics just as easily. First record or rotate a story. Then tap the sticker button at the top of the screen and select "Music" from the options. Then select a title from the Instagram library. When loaded, you will find the same controls as before, except that this time the text will be displayed on the screen.
This text responds in real time to the playback of the song. As you move the slider through the song, the text changes accordingly. When you play the song from your selection, the following words are also displayed. In addition to the two standard music sticker views, there are four different text display options that you can switch between by tapping on the options above the playback slider or just the text itself. Touch the color wheel at the top of the screen to scroll through the color options.
If you find that your song is not quite right for you, you can always tap the cover of the song at the top of the screen to search for another song. If you do this by mistake, you can tap "Cancel" to return to the story editor. When done, tap Done to see your new story in action. If something is ok, tap the text again to return to the editor.
The best use cases are karaoke stories where you sing to the words, that appear on the screen during music playback. Of course that means that you first know which song you will use. So you have to play around looking for a song that supports lyrics in Instagram before you record your story video. Then you just have to bring the song to the right position while editing.
