There are all sorts of reasons to block a number: an ex who does not stop talking on the phone, telemarkers who have no idea, cheaters or an aunt who wants to check in and see why they still are not married.
If your phone hums more than you can take, you know it's time to lock that number. But how? Here are the steps that must be taken by common operating systems and network operators.
Do Not Call
The first way to reduce the number of unwanted calls coming to your phone is to sign up for the national call registration database. On the site you can register your phone number or check if your numbers already exist. DoNotCall.gov allows you to register up to three phone numbers at once. According to the FTC, which carries the registration, will be our phone number The registration was added to the registry within 24 hours. However, it probably takes up to 31 days for the sales calls to end. If you are still on the phone, you can file a complaint.
You can also download an app like RoboKiller that blocks telemarketers and robocallers (and even uses answer bots that annoy them).
Do not expect this to end unwanted calls. Robocalls are still in widespread use and FCC chairman Ajit Pai has asked mobile operators to help reduce their use by implementing an authentication system. Until then, you can take further steps to reduce the ringing of your phone.
Note: If you prevent someone from sending you texts, FaceTime, or voice calls, they will automatically be locked out of all three things.
To block a number that called you, go to the Phone app and select Recent. Find the number and click on the me in the circle next to it (). You will see a screen with information about the call and the actions to take. Scroll down to block this caller.
If you block someone in your contact list, go to Settings> Phone> Call Barring and Identification . Scroll all the way down and tap Block Contact. This will open your contact list and allow you to page through and select the ones you want to block. You can also go to Settings> Messages> Locked> Add New .
To block someone from text, tap the number at the top of the screen to bring up a drop-down menu Three options: Audio, FaceTime, and About. Touch Info. You will see the number, a phone symbol and an arrow. Tap the arrow and then scroll down and click on "Block this caller".
If you think you're looking at FaceTime, visit this app, search for the last FaceTime conversation you've had with them, and click on the Me next to it ( ). You will see a screen with information about the call and the actions to take. Scroll down to block this caller. If someone is in your contacts, go to Settings> FaceTime> Blocked> Add New and select the name or names you want to block.
In related messages: If you think you have been blocked, this indicates that you have signs. For example, they can be sent directly to voicemail for calls. The message "Delivered" will not appear under your iMessage. In addition, your text will turn green (as opposed to blue) when you notify other iOS users. These things can happen even if the person you want to contact has no connection. So do not start immediately. But if it's been a while and you still can not get through …
Android allows phone manufacturers a degree of freedom in customization. So if you have an Android device, blocking a number could be different from device to device.
If you have a newer Android device, you should be able to tap the phone number and either scroll down to block the call, or click the ellipsis icon ([19459013)]) and You block number.

Older Android operating systems have different interfaces. On the Android Lollipop, go to the Phone app and select Call settings> Call rejection (ouch)> Auto reject list. Enter the number or search for the number and select it.
Open the dialer for Marshmallow or Nougat, open the list of recent calls, find the number you want to block, and select Block / Report Spam. (If you do not want to report the number as spam, you can clear the check box.) Then tap Block.
