Google Home ($ 129 at Walmart) is now able to control . This is pretty handy, because before this update, you had to change the app to the app that controls your lights to change the colors.
This is not a difficult process, but it can be annoying if you use different light bulb brands home like me. Now you do not have to switch between different apps to control all your lights. Everything can be controlled with the Google Home app.
How to set up your lamp and change its colors in the Google Home app.
Add your pear
To add your pear to the app, first make sure your pear is supported. The Google Home app supports Philips Hue, Lifx and some lesser-known incandescent bulbs. The full list can be found here .
Then, verify that you're using Google Home app version 2.9 or later. You can check your version by visiting the Google Play Store or iTunes. The version will appear below or next to the app description.
Now that you know your bulb is supported and the app is refreshed, tap Add> Device Setup > New Devices > Next , Follow the instructions on the screen.
To control the colors of your lights, go to the Google Home app home screen and tap the light you want to change. You will be taken to a dashboard with lighting options.
The dashboard has a brightness control dial and a button labeled Color . Tap the Color button to open a wider selection of colors. Select the desired color from the 42 options palette and you're done.
