Group chats are fun and effective ways to stay in touch with the many people in our lives. Whether it's the local friends chat or the group of work, we rely on these groups to stay connected. However, performing one of these group chats can be a monster task. If you feel overwhelmed with administrative tasks, why not pass this burden on to another member of the telegram group?
If this sounds like a new feature to you, it's because it's so. The transmission of group chat owners by telegram was not introduced until Sunday, June 23rd. So, if you have not heard of it yet, it's not because you were late for the party.
: Enabling 2-Step Verification
Sorry, someone's transmission bubble is bursting, but here's the truth – With Telegram, you can not transfer ownership of group chats unless you have two-step verification have been activated for at least seven days. If you have already activated the confirmation in two steps in telegram, this is great! Continue and proceed to the next step. If not, as with us, you must first enable it and then wait seven days to try this feature.
To enable 2-step verification in Telegram, tap Settings (iOS) in the lower-right corner, or tap the Hamburger menu icon in the upper-left corner, then tap Settings. (Android).
Then tap Privacy & Security and select 2-Step Verification. Then select "Set additional password".
Now enter a new password and tap "Next" (iOS) or the check mark (Android). Then enter your password again and tap "Next" or the check mark for Continue. If you wish, now select a hint for your password. In both cases, tap "Skip" or "Next" (iOS) or "Skip" or the check mark (Android). On this page, enter a recovery email. You can skip this option. However, Telegram alerts you that you will lose access to your account forever through forgotten passwords without a recovery email.
If you want to use a recovery e-mail, you must now enter the e-mail code that the message has sent to this address. Once you do this, 2-step verification will be activated.
If you have attempted to transfer the ownership of the group chat to another member, you may notice how difficult the setting can be. In fact, Telegram does not clarify how these privileges can be transferred from one member to another. Luckily we found out.
First, enter the group chat, then tap the group name at the top of the screen (on iOS, tap "Info" to continue).
Hold down the Android key. Turn who you want to transfer the chat to and tap "Promote to Admin". On iOS, tap Edit, tap the minus sign next to the selected contact, and then tap Advertise. You can also swipe left on a contact to open the same menu.
Alternatively, on iOS, tap "Edit" and then "Administrators." Then tap "Add Admin" and select your contact from this list.
Now tap the red slider next to "Add New Admins" at the bottom of the screen. Once you have done this, a new option called Transfer Group Ownership will appear. If 2-Step Verification was turned on for at least 7 days and you were logged in to this device for at least 24 hours, you can transfer ownership of this contact. Otherwise, you must wait until both conditions are met.
