WAV audio files are an excellent way to get the complete and accurate quality of a recording in a truly lossless format on your computer. However, if you're not an audiophile and worried about disk space, it may be time to turn it into a more manageable format like MP3.
What is a WAV file?

How to Convert WAV to MP3
If you have a large part of your audio files in WAV format, they are likely to consume a lot of memory. One way to reduce the impact on your memory without completely eliminating it is to turn it into a smaller, more compressed format – like MP3.
Using VLC to Convert Your Files
VLC is a free and open source media player that opens almost all file formats and provides an option to convert your audio files. Here at How-to Geek he is a favorite.
Open VLC and click on "Media" and then on "Convert / Save". "
If you have already loaded a file into VLC, the tool will not automatically load it into the converter. You will need to reload the file from this window. Click the "Add" button on the right.

Then click "Start" to begin the conversion process.
Depending on the file size and the bit rate selected, the conversion should not take too long. You can then access MP3 using the storage folder you specified.
Using Online Solutions to Convert Your Files
There are numerous websites on which you can convert your files for free to Zamzar. You can convert up to 10 files at a time, and they will not store files on their servers for over 24 hours.
After entering Zamzar's website, click on "Choose Files" or drag and drop and place the files in your browser window to upload them to the website.
Select "MP3" as the output file type from the drop-down menu.
 Finally enter a valid email address where you can get a link to your converted files and click "Convert".
