How to cook the Beyond Meat Burger



Despite Cattle Breeders Calling for Artificial Meat the Beyond Meat Burgers are becoming ever more popular. Beyond Burgers mainly consists of pea protein isolate and has challenged the definition of "vegetable burger".

If you walked past a shelf of Beyond Burgers at your local grocery store, you might not have realized at first glance that it was not beef. And if properly cooked, Beyond Burgers offer a much more realistic meat alternative than patties made from ground soy, beans or lentils.

How do I best prepare a Beyond Burger?

The best way to prepare a beef burger is to grill. Therefore it makes sense to prepare this beef-like plant burger best on a grill ( as well as for other meat alternatives .). If you do not have a barbecue or are not grilling your favorite cooking method, you can also prepare Beyond Burgers in a pan.

Grill Beyond Burgers:

  • Clean grill and preheat (gas or charcoal).
  • Beyond burgers grill for three minutes on each side or until the interior temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

cook Beyond Burgers:

  • Heat a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Grease the frying pan with a light layer of olive oil or butter.
  • Cook Beyond Burgers on each side for 3 minutes or until browned outside.

You could even bake a Beyond Burger in the oven as long as it reaches the recommended 165 degrees internally, but no assurance that the texture will come out right.

Crumbling a Beyond Burger into a baked recipe like a casserole would work, but I would still recommend browning the meat before putting it in the casserole dish.

When I cooked the Beyond Burgers, I noticed that they left a lot of residue in my pan. No big deal, but maybe I'd rather grill them next time to reduce the cleaning.

Can you cook Beyond Burgers from frozen vegetables?

Beyond Meat recommends defrosting Beyond Burgers before you cook them for the best flavor and texture and to ensure that they are fully heated. You can also make it out of frozen meat if you are in need.

When cooking Beyond Burgers from frozen vegetables, extend the cooking time on each side by about two minutes. I tested this in a pan at home and my Beyond Burgers took just over 10 minutes (compared to the six for thawed patties) to really cook. Your experience may differ slightly from how hot your pan or grill is.

When I cooked my Beyond Burgers out of the freezer, the edges became crisper than I would have imagined if I thawed them.
